Urgent: Phone swap and network issue

Guys, I just dropped my phone and the screen is fucked. I cant see shit, but the phone still works. My buddy has on old AT&T wireless Motorola v60i and I have some VZW audiovox phone. We all know that AT&T is GSM and VZW is CDMA, but verizon has used the v60i. Is there anyway that I would be able to use his phone, to replace my broken phone?

There's no way. There are CDMA and GSM versions of the V60i, which is why ATT and VZW were able to use it. Next time, buy phone insurance.

if you have the right tools you can swap the screens.

edit: you can also try to swap the whole flip part.

as long as they are both v60i.

Just curious, did all your text on the screen flip upside and some ASCII characters appear? I've seen this happen to some Motorola phones which is pretty comical. For the V60 screens...try www.cellphonestore.net and they might have a replacement part for you. I would just recommend to buy another phone...maybe a Sony Ericsson T616 or something like that. Might come out cheaper. Figure in about 15-20 bucks for the screen, couple bucks for shipping, 3-4 bucks for tools and some know how...so say 28 bucks. An SE T616 runs about $35 bucks on eBay. Fun math.

Update: The V60 is not GSM it is Digital, I spoke to 2 VZW techs and one said I should have no problems, the other said they could try it. Unfortunately, I did not have the V60 on me at the time. If anyone can confirm wheter or not the VZW techs were correct, your help would be appreciated.

Or he can switch to a GSM carrier and be happy... Dropping that CDMA phone is a sure sign.

There is a V60i which is TDMA..."digital" ... that is for the older At&t and Cingular networks. There is also a V60c or something like that for CDMA (sprint/verizon)...then a V60g for GSM networks. So if your friend used it for At&t, most likely it would be the V60i. The V60i will not have the right network interface to work with Verizon.

if you get another phone from VZW they'' get you on a contract again...
