does anyone know where either the gpo is or how i can get this turned back on? i looked through gpo but i couldn't find where it would be locked down. Basically i want to be able to turn on and off the automatic spell check before sending a email, but all options under options->spelling->general options are greyed out

is this on your home or work computer? if it's a network, your NA probably has spell check mandated.

 

Check under the Office and Outlook GPO...

 

Which version of Outlook are you running? From the description of how you got to the options, it sounds like you are either using Outlook 97/2000 or Outlook Express. If it is Outlook Express, then you need to have either Microsoft Works or Microsoft Word installed for Spell check capability.

If it is Outlook 97/2000/XP/2003, then check first to see if Microsoft Word is your email editor. If it is, then disabled that and let Outlook handle the email editing portion and see if spell check is an option.

 

i can't uncheck the box to set word as the default editor. it looks like a gpo thing.
