Black or Grey TL-S?

Might be picking one up this week but undecided on which color. I just bought an 08 grey TL and really like that color, but Im seeing that the TL-S also looks good in black. Which color should I go with? I am seriously undecided

Not black.

Seriously, regret. All the time. It looks good one second, then you go through a cloud of dust and it's over.

Black or go home! Just messing. Black does look the best on the TL though imo. Not being biased either but it just stands out like a mo'fo when its cleaned up. But after a day or two, you start to see the dust accumulate

it's like asking if you want chicken or beef for dinner tonight?

IMHO, black looks nice and sharp when it's clean but hard to maintain.

At the end it's your car so pick the one you like the most (assume both color in same condition)

Unless it's blatantly obvious a brand spankin new member deserves to be treated poorly, we do not treat them this way. Be nice.

Ha. All my years of cars and message boards, this is the first time I've been accused of being a troll. lol

I have buyer's remorse, but it has nothing to do with the color or anything else really. I just should have done with the TL-S in the first place. I didnt, because at the time I wanted to keep it under 10 grand for spending on a TL. I ended up liking the car way more than I anticipated, which made me wish I had just spent the extra money on the S

However, all is not lost, as I still have enough to get the S and will go look at it this week. Already contacting the seller and if all goes well, by the end of the week I'll have a grey TL-S

And color is extremely important. I do not go for white, red, green, etc. Silver, black, and grey mainly. Dont care if I come across a mint white and a so-so grey. I'll keep looking until I get my preferred color in the condition I like

There we go! A well thought out post!. No, I didn't call you a troll, silly! I called ME a troll!

This post makes MUCH more sense than your OP. In your OP, it can be easily be misinterpreted that you are having buyer's remorse based solely on color. When you go into detail like that, it makes much more sense!

Congrats!

Gray. I'm anal about having a clean car and the struggle is real trying to keep my black Z clean. And I barely drive it. On the flip side, a freshly detailed/waxed black car is sexy

Going to hopefully check it out tonight. Waiting to get confirmation from the seller

He's advertising the car as dark grey in color. Did the 08's come in grey? From what I've read, regular TL's came in grey but not the S

My last three cars were black. Well the one was a POS I didnt care about and hardly counted. My accord tho had the nighthawk black and I washed that baby every freaking week, because it was just so beautiful to look at. But that was a lot of work, I was becoming obsessed with it.

My other black car I neglected to wash because it was very old and already had been resprayed once. This led to the paint fading and areas discoloring over a few years. The paint never was nice but it definitely made me lose the obsession of clean black.

This time with the TL I went silver. I actually had the choice between black in pretty good condition but the rest of the car was not great and silver with paint problems but the rest of the car was great. I chose silver and I am so happy.

It still looks nice when cleaned up but because it has some scratches already I do not care if it gets more. Also the silver hides dust, dirt, scratches, and marks much better than black did. I now know why more adults choose silver when buying new. I always thought it was such a boring color but the benefits of easier upkeep are a great compromise.

Was choosing between the 2 colors for my tlx, and ended up getting black since the mdx is already gray. After washing the car i always tell myself that i made the right decision. Nothing beats the looks of a clean and shiny black car. But as soon as i see dust after a day or two, i get some remorse that i should have gone with the gray. Lol. I guess im just gonna get one of thise microfiber dusters...

No TL-S for me yet unfortunately. Had 3 potential purchases but they all fell thru

Will continue to look for one. An 08 again preferably. Silver, Bronze, or Black

Looking to add a high rise spoiler to my TL so it doesnt look so bland. Having a hard time finding an already painted one, my particular color (Polished Metal Metallic)

Those cars fell thru because they either sold shortly before I got to them, or (in the case of the black one), the seller was shady, not very helpful, and provided little information

Regarding the spoiler, I disagree as far as "shit is ugly"

there is nothing like a black car when its all cleaned up, polished, waxed, etc.

but theres also nothing uglier than a black car when its dirty. Plus, all scratches and dents are so much more apparent.

I'd like at other things like mileage, maintenance, etc before getting too picky on exterior color. Hell, interior color is more important for me than exterior color. (taupe vs ebony when you're talking type-S)

There are a couple for sale right now close by, but at dealerships (so they're overpriced). Not in a big hurry to buy, as I prefer private party. And right now there are no more private party TL-S's locally

We will see what happens. Im still in the hunt. lol

Black will look better than grey in the short term, but the black paint tends to have clearcoat failure or basecoat failure over the long run which sucks. Nighthawk Black Pearl looks incredible clean.

White Diamond Pearl is one of the most beautiful colors on the TL-S along with the Kinetic Blue and the Moroccan red.

Kinetic Blue > Moroccan Red > White > Grey > Black

If you are talking TL Type-S there's not really a dark gray color. The color I think you are thinking of is Carbon Bronze Pearl...which is the only dark gray/dark brown color these came in. This is the color of my Type-S.

It's damn striking in sunlight at different angles. Some look dark gray and at others look dark bronze. Nice with the flecks. And super nice with the dark colored Type-S rims. SICK. In the sunlight I LOVE my car.

But yes, that Nighthawk Black Pearl is sexay sexay SEXAY in sunlight too...when you can keep it clean & near swirl free! Try that in the middle of Las Vegas in the hot summer! Dust everywhere! EVERYWHERE! I literally dust off my car EVERY FRIGGIN DAY...till near winter weather.

Wifey's MDX is black and I hate it. Hate it. Hate cleaning it. It never stays clean more than a day here. By the next day it's covered in fine dust. Use a California duster and it leaves swirl mark galore if you're not careful.

My suggestion - if you live in a low-dust area, go with BLACK but be prepared to wash your car more to keep her purrty. If you want lower maintenance then go with the DARK GRAY/BROWN. Even with a coat of dust, it will stay good lookin'.

Luck finding your UNICORN!

More from my last post...

Some pics of CBP:

Even without a daily dusting yet, she still looks pretty clean

In shade - She looks near brown/bronze

In sunlight - She looks dark gray at some angles, brown/bronze in others

Yup, CBP is my first choice right now (I admit I initially thought it was the same grey as my current Polished Grey Metal Metallic). Second choice is black. I would be fine with either though. Would like to stick with an 08. The other colors are nice, but too conspicuous/flashy for me, and white is bland/boring

There's an 08 CBP locally but like I said, its at a dealer that has overpriced it. I could get it, but am choosing to wait a little longer. I own 3 cars right now and would at least like to sell one before getting another

If the S came in AM I would have said grey. But in my opinion NBP>CBP. Probably the only thing against NBP is that it is way too common, but still it suits the S very well.

There are no bad OEM colors for the Type-S, but in my opinion CBP, NBP, and KBP look best.

Finally found one miraculously, an 08 with 80k miles popped up in my town this week, priced several thousand less than a typical Type-S with the same year and mileage, due to needing minor body work on the front bumper and a small dent on a rear side door. Interior very clean, and other than what I mentioned, the paint looks great. Mechanically perfect. Timing belt done. I could not pass it up. Good thing it wasnt white or I'd still be searching. LOL

A few quick questions.......Remote 1 cannot be used to customize anything (and the key doesnt retract). Im having to use remote 2 to use the settings I saved. Do I need a new remote? Battery low? Can the dealer program a good remote from my other TL to this one?

BTW, anyone wanna buy an 08 Grey regular TL with Navi?
