Proper TV Settings

I do not think we have a thread on tv sets, but we just picked up a new 3D LED TV from samsung

http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN55D8000YFXZA

Its a pretty awesome TV, I can finally play my 360 on a proper TV set instead of a 9-10 year old tv that supports up too 480i or p I forgot.

But my question is, and I know this is really important for getting the best picture out of the TV, what settings do you set for Sports/movies/etc. Or do you just leave it how it came??

Turn OFF all the excess shit.

All the motion settings (120hz/240hz), real cinema, etc...turn all that shit OFF!
You can use it for watching sports...thats it.

to Sarlacc, and get something like Digital Video Essentials disc or something similar and put it in each source that you can and tune each input for each source.

That's like the first thing I do when I get a TV is adjust settings, they look horrible out of the box.

Back in the day when I had a Sony Vega CRT I went into the service menu by entering a special konami code like combo on the remote and manually adjusted the RGB values of the CRT to get rid of the red push and made it look great!

I've kinda done it so many times I just do it by eye.

Interesting, I thought you always wanted that stuff on mainly keeping it at 240hz refresh rate. I know for sports its good, but thought it was good in general.

Only if you enjoy everything you watch looking like a soap opera.

The whole refresh rate is the biggest pile of shit from TV makers...and when I read TV reviews hearing people talk about this feature good and bad...makes me want to punch them all and shoot the person who decided this was a great feature to add...

Its pure and utter shit.

All of that shit is marketing BS to sell more TVs to ignorant people. Same with the Ghz race and Megapixels race of years past.

As of now I'm following these settings, I may make some tweaks later, but like you guys said this had me turn off auto motion and all.

But you said it should be on for sports?? So maybe I should make other settings that have this configuration with it on?
