my G4 Ibook just broke (harddrive). I think I'm going to try and replace it myself.
but it might be time for an upgrade, and maybe keep my ibook around just for light duty. It never ran photoshop very well at all. I was just looking into this too, and I kept hearing about the 14th. I hoping for something new that I really want (bluray? nvidia?), or I might try and find the old model for cheap.

Based upon the rumors for the 14th ... sub-$1k Macbooks (even $899, maybe?!) Aluminum casing that resembles the MBA also confirmed.
The MBP ... maybe loses the standard DVI port with a mini-DVI a la Macbook / MBA. But whomever spent $4k on a MBP ... what were you thinking? Who spends that kinda loot on a laptop unless you're in graphic design and *need* such a powerful laptop?

If you need that feature or just want to blow the money, get the MBP, otherwise, get the normal macbook and you'll be pretty happy.
as for the new versions, as dom mentioned, the new macbook's supposedly coming with aluminum casings which will be nice. at least their lineups will match up now. I wish the pro came in black when I bought mine last year.

Do you have a need for a Macbook pro? In all honesty, everyone that has asked me whether they should get the pro or the normal macbook has had no need for the Pro. the only obvious difference between the two is the dedicated graphics card and the ability to run a large external display as well as the processor speed.

I am happy they are coming out with new ones because I wanted a regular black macbook for cheap. I use my Macbook pro as a desktop replacement and am planning on getting a 22 inch display for it sometime soon (I edit a lot of pictures so I like having the MBP). But I want a black macbook as an email/internet machine.
BTW this is the best desktop redesign I have ever seen. I am changing my MBP to look like this and I have already changed my XP machine to look like the XP side. Anyone who wants to do it its on Lifehacker.

It's not that Apple owners ARE douche bags, just that people like SpideJerker make them SEEM that way.

Any word on the new Mini's? I just picked up a 1.5 Intel Core Solo one I plan to upgrade to either the Merom 2.33Ghz (T7600) or the 2.16Ghz (T7400) processor
I also just picked up 2GB Kingston Hypermax 4-4-4-12 DDR2 RAM and on Friday will order a 7200 RPM 250GB SATA hard drive....
My question is...is it even worth the trouble to upgrade this one or should I sell it and just pick up a new model which could be available soon....
What do you guys think? I got my system for 385.00 and will only spend about 250 for the remaining pieces....is it even worth it???

I've been hoping for a mini refresh too...
None of the rumor sites seems to be talking too much about the mini these days. There was a thought some months ago that it was dead... But nothing since.
