Motorola A1200 - Ming

anybody has that phone? Linux OS. touch screen. PDA. I have seen it in person. it's really small and thin PDA.

by the way, that's a great cell phone site.

yeah, been using it since april...
sofware support is pretty much non-existance for this linux phone.
the camera is okay, but in low light area, the pics tend to get blurry.
the clear flip is the "bling" factor of the phone. this phone gets more attention than the nokia 8800.
and it's almost the size of the razr v3i...
some sample pics

macro mode

I think this phone is available in the U.S., but not currently through any service providers (ie T-mo, cingular, etc.).

yeah, that's why I am planning on switching from verizon to cingular most likely since there are more phones that can be used with cingular.

I think Ming came out last December in Asia.

It's an Asian thing. Try those sandwiches, they are GOOD.

The only thing I have to say about the phone is that it looks pretty cool, but dialing with the stylus is a bit awkward. But whenever I use a smartphone, I always use the keypad.

are you talking about the sandwiches or the phone?

Personally, I would like a different type of bread for those sandwiches. And one of them seems to still have a bone in them...boneless would be key.

As for the phone...It's cool and an attention getter, but too expensive and I'm not a stylus person. I had a HP jornada I spent $500 for about 5 years ago taht I used for all of 2 weeks before retiring it. I couldn't get used to using the stylus for typing or with the handwriting recognition. It just seemd too tedious because it REQUIRED use of 2 hands for any task, not to mention it wasn't even phone capable.

I have a crackberry now (7130...one of the thinner ones that are the size of a cell phone) that doesn't have a touchscreen, so you can use 1 hand pretty much for everything (a few rarely used functions, such as moving icons and stuff require 2 hands because yo have to press 2 buttons). I like not having to use 2 hands for simple things such as dialing.

^^^ thanks. great info.

that's why I like that touch screen. also I want to try Linux's OS. I played with a sample, and the cover was a bit too tight to open with one hand.

anyway, anything else about the phone you don't like or like?
