Keep the Treo or get a Blackberry?
Keep the Treo or get a Blackberry?
I have a tough time deciding on this. I have had Treo's for the past 4.5 years since the 600 came out. I now have a 700. I am getting pretty sick of it, it's boring to me and I'm frankly sick of looking at it. I was thinking of going to Blackberry Curve but afraid I may miss the touch screen.....
I have sprint and my contract ends in April so I'm torn whether I should make the switch or just stick to what I have until the contract expires to have more options of phones/companies.

It depends I guess.
Will you be leaving sprint in april? If not, I'm sure if you call CS they will give you a early upgrade.
Then it depends on what you will be using the phone for. Business / personal use, media phone. Update us and we'll try to help!

I'm not sure if I want to leave sprint. Many family/friends use sprint so it's nice to have mobile to mobile minutes. But they also are never on top as far as having nice/cool features with phones.
The phone is going to be used for personal use. Not much for business at all. Having media options would be nice, and I like Blackberry email capabilities - with the treo I always have to log into the internet to check gmail.

I think all phones get boring? Which is why I go though so many. I've been with blackberries now for a while and I'm happy, but that's not to say I don't get bored with my bold sometimes.
Yes BB email capabilities are the best in the market.
All (read: Most) phones now adays have a media player built in with media card support, for tunes, vids and pics.
With windows mobile, you have large capabilties to adjust the phone to you. As i'm sure you know, almost all settings can be adjusted to fit you. blackberry not so much so.
If you stay with Palm, I would stay away from the Treo OS. devices like the Centro ect. IMO it is the worst OS out there however to each their own.
Also, did you want a touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard or would one do you justice?
Also look in the HTC Touch Pro, Thread here, seems to be a good phone!

I don't think you will miss the touch screen. I went from a Treo 750 to an iPhone to a BlackBerry Curve. I've been MUCH happier with the Curve. It's 1000x more stable than my Treo ever was. I only have to soft reset it once a week or so because the memory is a little leaky. I used to reset my Treo daily.

I've never been too much of a fan of the HTC touch...it feels strange in my head. I was pretty excited with the storm coming out but after playing with it I don't like it.
I really like the iPhone but I'm not sure if I want to make the switch to AT&T just based on that alone.

How would you compare the iPhone to the Curve?
I am pretty much stuck with sprint since i get a 23% volume based corporate discount i've had since residency. Plus, my parents and siblings are all on sprint too. I was leaning towards the HTC Pro but just got a brand new Treo 755 less than 4 months ago when my old Treo crapped out for the 2nd time (got the full replacement plan). I like Palm OS too and it runs a lot of medical applications (i.e. EpocratesRx) pretty good. Iono if blackberry can run prescription drug reference software.
I believe he's got the 8830.

Thank goodness Mobile subforum is so small.
He's got the 8830, others and i got the bold, other people have the storm, others have the curve and a few have the pearl flip. So basically, any questions we got you covered!

If the damn Iphone never came out I wouldn't even be thinking about this....
Get the BB Bold. I had a treo 700, loved it (especially the touch screen) and faced the same dilemma on whether I would miss it. I don't and have seen the BB light. I will say that so far the AT&T service is ok (I had sprint before)
The iPhone is a "neat" device. But the novely wore off for me quick.
Pros for the iPhone include the full HTML browser, app store. But I found it unstable. Texting is a pain. The BlackBerrys are DESIGNED for e-mail/text. Call quality on the BB is much better as well, not to mention I have service everywhere. Couldn't say that about the iPhone.
My next device will be another BlackBerry, but I have no reason to replace my Curve yet. This is coming from someone that can't wait the 18 months to upgrade their phone.
