It definitely is a nice chop, but what do you guys think? Would you like to have an actual physical keyboard or have you become pretty accustomed to the keypad? Is this moving forward or backwards if it came out? Discuss....

At first I thought it was a major obstacle, turned out to be a very small obstacle. I love the touchpad. Only problem is not being able to type without looking but I can get over that.

I agree that some sort of "pro" or "elite" phone like this will eventually hit the market. Like the article says, it just makes sense.

there will never be an iPhone with a physical keyboard. period.

There will be no iPhone news at macworld, no tablet or netbooks either. Macworld should be mostly about Snow Leopard and it's performance increases thanks to OpenCL. I think everyone is forgetting that this is supposed to be coming out this summer and there's been hardly any details about it so obviously that'll be what Macworld is about.

If anything these stupid rumors are from people trying to make money off of Apple's stocking going down after they don't announce what these stupid rumors say they're supposed to announce.

There are some games that i play on the iphone that would be helpful with the keypad. Other than that the keyboard would make the iphone bulky.

are you talking about something besides the usual status updates on amount of iPhones sold, and apps sold, etc?

don't care for the keyboard.

i'm perfectly fine with the touchpad. that's one of the reasons i wanted one in the first place.

or hopefully they'll tell us what the hell is going on with the Apple Push service that was supposed to launch in Sept and we've heard nothing about it since.

I think the keypad might make sense if Apple *truly* wants to compete with the Blackberry with 'power' users.

Sure -- sales of the iPhone have been stellar thus far... but is there growth in a 'mature' market like North America? Apple stock is only as good as the expected earnings are for 2 quarters from today. No growth -- investors are gonna dump the stock like a bad habit.

Personally, if I were ever to migrate to a smartphone, I think having a qwerty keyboard (not like the Pearl but a "real" Bb) would be requisite. I don't think I could get used to typing on a flat surface using a stylus or my sausage-sized fingers.

That's the only reason I still have my Treo. I've used friend's iphones several types for texting and email and I just cannot get the right buttons.

...With that said, both the mrs. and I are getting new iPhones in a month regardless of what news (or lack there-of) comes out tomorrow.

1) See Blackberry Storm...made to compete with the iPhone. No, the iPhone does NOT need a real keyboard to compete.

2) Growth??? Look at how much a dent they made in the market in less than TWO YEARS. A market they were laughed at for entering. And they are still growing.

3) Stock??? Name me another company right now that has $18 billion in reserve sitting in CASH in a bank right to do with as they see fit. There will be no issues gaining investors. Apple stock always goes down right after a keynote or product announcement...Why, because said investors always Sell when its at the highest, which drives the price down, and then while its down more people buy and drive it right back up.

the stock typically goes down during these announcements because they hit a peak and people sell.

Then, the stock goes right back up.

I'm also really happy with my Iphone, maybe upgrade the camera, but that is about my only bitch. Ive had mine since the first day the original was released and it still works perfect, very little glitches as long as I keep it updated, and has only crashed once

i don't believe in phone cameras, its a phone and that's its purpose. the camera is just there as a feature. like the internet... its slow, but usable, it won't replace a laptop period.

the iphone is already expensive as it is. not saying apple won't release such a thing, the public is not ready to spend this much yet. right now people are starting to "need" all the bells of whistle of texting, internet, etc.

right now the iphone already costs a lot to produce, i don't see this happening anytime soon.
