Blackberry World Phone (8830)

But seriously, I remember you were testing out the samsung, no go on those? But I would agree with the blackberry choice, they are ultimate business devices. I got rid of the curve for the iPhone and I've been trying to get the curve back. Happen to get an extra one i'd settle for the 8830?

OK, so now that I have this phone, I have a question...
I need to dial the phone number on the back of my AMEX card, and it is 1-888-BLUE-741.
How the hell do I dial "by letter" on this Blackberry?

How do you like it? What carrier do you have? It's time to get for me to get a new phone. I want the blackberry, but I have Verizon. The Bold looks awesome, but dont know when it will be available for Verizon if ever.

, The 8820 is by far the best BB I have owned. I am actually on my second one. I also have the iPhone that I tested for business practicality and it sucked. Only advantage I give the iPhone is Safari.

I have the 8830 through Verizon, and aside from crippling the navigation, I am darn happy with this phone. Every time I think I have found a fault, I find the fix, and it's built in, not some hack. I am just getting used to the BB interface. I do wish the ringtones were louder, though...

I've been running 4.5 OS for a week or so now and it's only locked up playing Brickbreaker and that may be my theme screwing up. I haven't uploaded Docs2Go since I don't plan on creating any documents and my BB has opened everything sent to me on it own.

Disclaimer: This info is for educational purposes only. I have no cntrol over what you do to your blackberry and am not liable at all.
With that being said:
D/L and install Desktop Manager 4.5 found here
D/L and install the OS which can be found here. (note: that I have not tried this OS since I dont have a 88xx so I do not know if it works.)
Once you install it onto your computer the next time you connect to DM it will automaticly be installed.
Once it finishes install, log onto your BIS and resend service books.
Let me know if you have any issues.
EDIT: I found this tutorial. IT EVEN HAS PICTURES!!!

I am worried because my BB is hooked to a BPS (smaller than a BES), and I don't have desktop synch set up because all my synching goes through the Exchange server.

If you're on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) you should check in with an IT representative before attempting to upgrade your smartphone's handheld software, because some IT policies can block or partially block a new OS install.
so check with your IT depart if you have one. If everything is a go than all I can say is grow some balls.
