Networking: quadband GSM radio with EDGE, beginning with subsidy contracts through Cingular.
If so

I think it deserves its own thread. The other one is Apple generic.

"We expect to receive a signed agreement today."

So Cingular is the only place to get one.
...and Cingular is HORRIBLE.....the worst coverage.

Bottom line Cingular stock is not a sure-fire winner. Coverage is an issue, people locked into existing contracts with other carriers is another, and the price of the iphone w/ a mandatory 2 year contract is yet another.

Back in the day when Nextel had the market cornered with the push to talk thing, I used to say that the phone did everything except actually make a call.....My old company went with the newer blackberries on t-mobile, but then switched to the older ones on verizon....No matter the features... coverage beats features...always.

nice interface, and nice design but why the hell wouldn't they include 3G support? No 3g on a "high technology" phone=glorified wide screen ipod with phone support. Maybe they'll get it right on their next release, and yes I know it has wifi. Nokia N95 is still king!

Wait until the exclusive ends in 2009... then it will likely be on the other networks. I love the phone, but no way I'll buy it if I have to use it on Cingular's crappy network...

I've had Cingular for a few months now... I've had full bars everywhere I've been in Arizona, LA, Denver, Washington DC, New York and Connecticut. Only lost coverage in the dead spots in New England where no one gets reception. No dropped calls yet, and the best phones on the market.
Not arguing against those of you who don't like Cingular, just thought I'd stick up for them since I've been very happy with my service.

We use Cingular for work and it's nothing but trouble. We have sites throughout Fairfield county and the dropped call were so bad, I dropped my work phone in a draw and use my personal phone (Verizon) for work now.
I love the iPhone tho. Too bad they went and lumped themselves in with one carrier for 2 years.

Same here... Cingular is the best service in my area.
The only thing I hate with a 2 year contract is the fact that if the phone breaks after the first year it is no longer under factory warranty. Cingular will make you buy a new one at non-contract pricing $$$ since you aren't eligible for an upgrade. I'll end up paying more to go 1 year.
