iPhone on Verizon

One of my IT guys at work brought me his iPhone on Friday. He showed me that his network-on his iPhone is on Verison!
He has one of the Dev contracts with the iPhone.

From the little I know or understand Iphones use GSM Quadband Networks such as T-mobile and At&T..and pay as you go SIM cards...Verizon does not use GSM.. So a IPhone will not work on Verizon even if it is jail broken.
