Anyways, there is no sim card slot (or there shouldn't be)- apparently they had plans to release a version of our touchpads with AT&T as a service provider, but that was obviously scrapped.
Who knows though, a prototype with a sim slot could have been sold, much like how a couple people now have gotten Qualcomm Developer's Touchpads with Android 2.1 running on them.
As for adding memory, a breakdown showed that the memory chips are soldered on.... so short of someone wanting to become an electric surgeon, you are stuck with how much memory space you paid for.

Interesting... looks like the sim card holder/connector is atleast complete.
As for tethering, I currently do wireless tether through my rooted/unlocked android phone (like a ninjaz) running CM7. Haven't been caught so far...

So now the touchpad gave me a reason to root my Thunderbolt just to have wireless tether. Mission complete.
Now I gots my Touchpad on-line wherever I got 4G'ssss

By the way I finally learned about all this preware stuff alst night and installed the new 1.5Ghz kernel. Actually makes a difference!
What else should I install?I got Govnah and Preware I think. Thats about it.
