Excuse my photo dump... built a few more boards. I have reach my endgame so here on out I'll just be building fun weird boards verse trying to find my perfect daily.
Zoom65 with Cherry Spellbook caps
CoffeVan 40% with GMK Metropolis caps and a JellyKeys artisan spacebar.
Shipping from them is crazy but if you look around you may be able to find it from shops that still have extras. It's called Klash of the Kaijus by Pantheon Keys.
Big update to Windows 11 is out that improves gaming performance across AMD Zen 3, 4, and 5 processors by about 10% on average. Seems like AMD had been at a disadvantage against Intel when running Windows for years now. Current testing show little to no improvement to Intel CPUs
I upgraded from dual screens to a 34" ultrawide and holy cow I didn't realize what I was missing out on.
This wouldn't have been my first choice but it was gifted to me from my kid. It's missing some features I would have liked, such as an adjustable stand and a usb-c input, but other than that I like it!
LG 34WR50QC-B. Not bad at all for $200.
I've been using Dell 34" curved UW monitors for a few years now (more $$$ than LG, for certain) both at home and at my office. Much, much, much better than dual screens.
Well since the new Intel CPU's have been getting called a waste of sand it looks like my next build will be sticking with AMD once the 9000 X3D's are out. Have everything else bought and ready for when it gets released.
the 3D vcache is stacked underneath the CCD instead of on top, this allows the CCD to run at higher speeds and to be overclocked, a first for X3D chips. These chips should be better for production workloads now too

All reviewers are loving the 9800X3D. It seems the i/o dies on the Zen 5 is the big bottleneck and what's holding back Zen 5 from being much better than Zen 4 since they both share it.
I'm liking the idea of local ai for chat bot or image generation, etc so maybe I'll get a 50 series at some point, curious how much better it runs AI than 40 series. My 4070 runs Deepseek 14b pretty well. Hopefully with further efficiency improvements we can run even better AIs with decent hardware.

yea when I posted that, it was from the keynote and none of that was known at the time. I’d still gladly take that over my 3080. Maybe. But I haven’t booted up my PC in months.

ahh I see. I last built a PC in 2006 and then switched to a Mac. Didn’t get back in to PC building until 2021.
Ok fuck it yolo. I just rebuilt my PC today. The 9800X3d is never going to be in stock and I'm not camping out in restock livestreams waiting to get one.
So now I'm on Windows 11 Pro, AMD Ryzen 9700x, Gigabyte X870 Aorus Pro mobo, RTX 4070, 1tb NVMe, 2TB SATA SSD, 32GB DDR5, NZXT H5 Flow,850w PSU and Arctic Liquid Cooler III 360. I already had the GPU, SSDs, and PSU so I kept the rebuild just under $1k but I got a decent setup before any tariffs kick in, and while the 9700X wasn't a lot better than the previous gen it's way better than my 4 core Intel 7700k from 2017.
Now I can run my GPU, and SSDs at their full potential, resizable BAR, and a bunch of USB C ports.
I bought one of those Elgato Stream Deck's a while ago not entirely sure what I'd use it for but I've got a decent setup now. I'm using about half of it to monitor temp and fan speeds, and the other half is audio shortcuts to preset volume levels, Lofi girl live streams for background music and button to quickly switch between headphone and speaker audio output.
I'll probably dial back all the fan monitoring a little bit but it's helping me dial in my fan settings in my rebuilt PC.
9070XT is about as good as the 5070Ti but cheaper and hopefully doesn't have stock issues. Ray Tracing is much better than previous AMD cards but still not as good as Nvidia, FSR 4 looks pretty good to, seems like it might be competitive with DLSS 4 but we'll see. Overall seems like AMD has mostly caught up and if you just want a GPU that can run games well this is a good option if they don't have the price issues that Nvidia has. It's a much better value than the 5070.
I think I'm sticking with my 4070 for now. Paired with the new CPU it's running games much better, and for local AI it's running pretty well, and a great AVX512 implementation in the latest AMD cpus is helping out in AI workloads too.
I'm hanging onto my RX5700 until GTA VI drops. Hopefully a new GPU and my AM4 5700x will be good enough.
I'm mostly playing MAME and NES emulation right now. BTW Launchbox is pretty cool.
