Only going with integrated graphics? Don't see any GPU listed there. Looks pretty solid, but I would have gone with a 512GB Intel 600p NVMe SSD. Much faster, same capacity and it's only about $8 more than that 850 EVO on NewEgg. Saw the board has M.2 to support it.

nice build! looks like something i would put together with plenty of room for upgrades in the future. have a 750w supernova g2 in my rig and it looks/performs awesome

Interesting point, I have been keeping an eye on the Samsung 950/960 M.2 drives as I am pretty loyal to that brand, but the prices have not gotten where i need them. Also, this is a basic desktop office machine, not one of my processing machines, so it really doesn't need the M.2. the onboard graphics should be fine (530 set), but I am sure I will toss a card in there eventually.

I like to leave a lot of room for future proofing. Since I use this for work, reliability and longevity are paramount for me. I typically keep a desktop machine for 7-10 years with maybe a bump in the RAM and storage halfway.

I have almost exactly this computer (different case and I stuck with the factory cooler) lol. It works awesome for just about everything other than gaming, which I don't care since I use my xbox instead but for PS/LR it does great.
FYI, I will not be measuring barometric pressure inside this case.... Single 140mm in, single 120mm out.
Should be fine. As long as the CFM rating for the in fan is more than the out fan, you should be good. Does the new case have filters for the fans to keep dust out?
Edit: This reminds me I need to clean my case filters...

lol, I was actually making a joke about Maharajmd's earlier comments about positive and negative pressure cases...
The case is a Lian Li. They send a very nice elderly cleaning woman by every month to lick the filters clean... It's included in the case price.
Is there an easy way to transfer all my SSD crap onto a larger SSD, including the OS? Or do I need a new copy of Windows? I'd back everything up on an external first
I'm still on Windows 7 but I don't really use my computer now for much besides gaming. And I still have an woefully undersized 80gb SSD...

There's tons of cloning software out there that can do just that

No.
Print it all out and then type it into the new machine.
Noob here in need of some advice... I just purchased a desk for my home office (see picture below) and I'm interested in building my own computer. I'm not just interested in the end product, but the experience itself of building one. I don't need want to get into the building of the computer itself just yet, because there are other things I need help addressing first.
I have a docking station that I can use with my work computer which gives me the ability to use multiple monitors. For this reason alone I will def be buying multiple monitors. Leaning towards two over three right now unless someone can convince me otherwise. I want my docking station/laptop to be displaying on the monitors, and will obviously want my desktop to work with them as well. Can this be done without me physically removing removing the HDMI cable from my docking station and plugging it into my desktop? I assume they make a product that allows you to toggle back and fourth with a simple button?
For those of you using multiple monitors, what is an optimal monitor size when using multiple monitors like this? I'm not a PC gamer, but if I do become one in the future after my computer build, I figure I might as well buy monitors that can support the graphics of PC gaming (while allowing me to do my work functions on them as well). Please feel free to make any product recommendations.
1080p at that size would be pretty cheap, but with all of the other high-resolutions available I would go with something higher, plus scaling helps to make things look crisper without being so small (Windows 10 without scaling on my 2560x1600 MacBook Pro is unusable, but Apple does it better across the OS). Have you considered an Ultrawide like what LG offers? Practically gives you the screen space of dual monitors but in a single screen. If you really want two monitors, 2x 24-inch seems to be a pretty common setup, and, as long as the monitor has them, you can switch the input on the monitors' OSD to switch between the systems.
There's a few YouTube channels that have some good guidelines on building - I find LinusTechTips pretty watchable and informative.
2x 24" would be fine and the switch you are referring to is called a KVM. It allows you to share a Keyboard Video and Mouse between multiple machines (but not at the same time). You toggle between machines as needed.
If you need "at the same time", look into software called Synergy that allows you to have one computer on monitor A and another on monitor B and you use the keyboard and mouse of one machine to control all of them. It can be a little tricky to set up but once you have it it works great.
+1 on a switch (or switches) like Mike suggested. "Ganging" the product below (2 of them - 1 to drive monitor-1 and one for monitor-2)
is how I would go. That solution will automatically select the active input as its source for the monitor it drives so, if the laptop is not connected its
selecting your desktop for both inputs; when the laptop inputs go active it automatically toggles to select those as the source. It also lets
you manually select between multiple active sources as well.
As for the keyboard and mouse, I went with bluetooth connected multi-device options.
keyboard: Logitech K800
mouse: Logitech M720 (Triathalon)
Both the keyboard and mouse have switches that let you select which 1 of 3 devices it
will be actively connected to. I own both the keyboard and mouse listed above and they switch
computers pretty much instantaneously when you press the button.
That is exactly what I need! Thanks for the help on that.
Stogie and Mizouse - So I believe there is even a newer version of the monitor that you both have out now. I think two of those in a 24 inch would be perfect for me. I found them to be much cheaper through Amazon than Dell directly. This kit also includes a stand with it:
Really happy with the setup, it better last me 5 years+
Specs below if anyone interested
Intel Core i7-7700k
Gskill 16gb ddr4 3200mhz ram
Intel 600p 512gb nvme ssd
Samsung 850 evo 500gb ssd
Asus 1080ti gpu
Evga g2 750w psu
MSI gaming m3 Z270 mb
Rosewill AC1900 wifi adapter
Cryorig A80 AIO cooler
Phanteks Pro M tempered glass case
and a dvd drive
Looking good!
With your carpet, it may be worthwhile to put some filters on the open air vents. The higher flow filters dont restrict the airflow much and they really help keep dust out of the case. Unless of course you are monitoring barometric pressure in your case and maintaining a PPA...

i like the way you think
i took the dust situation seriously, as i had to deal with it on my old computer
the case comes with magnetic dust filters. i've setup the case fans to intake air from the top, and exhaust through the front of the case. it works really well!
as for maintaining pressure... tuned the case fans a bit so that when i hold a lighter (i know its a bad idea but it works) near some vent holes, like the back of the case, the flame blows away from the case
The Dell S2417DG 24inch monitor I've wanted finally went on sale. I just ordered two of them. I'm super excited to use them when they arrive. I've never used a monitor of this magnitude in my life before.
Thanks to Yvuru, I have also put together my PC parts list. My first part should be here tomorrow (Intel i7-7700K).
