Can't Connect to Internet

Can't Connect to Internet
My roommate and I don't use the internet much so we don't have a network set up for our place. Whenever we do need to use the internet we just connect to a neighbor's unsecured network. We have done this before on many occasions without any problems. Then all of a sudden, I wasn't able to connect to the network while my roommate can still connect with no problems. I am trying to figure out what is wrong my laptop but haven't found any solutions. Could anyone help me? Is it a firewall issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. THanks

And your solution is to pay $15 a month or go to the local library, college or gov't center to access the wireless.

It's a lot easier to troubleshoot if it's the same person's laptop and router.
Go to an open unsecured network to test the laptop- if OP can hook up, it's the neighbor's router/settings and not the laptop. If OP can't hook up at an open network, it's the laptop.

Uh-huh.
And before you counter with "we did this before without a problem:" Your neighbor leaving his service unprotected is not an open invitation for you or anyone else to use it. It's still theft.

Anyway, wouldn't help since the router only allows certain mac addresses, so you would need to know it...
