The plot thickens so was in Tampa today at work and I did the speed test over there and got interesting results. Looking at the top two results again the top being with my hand covering the antennae the 2nd with my hands off. I got GREAT download speed with my hands on and average upload speed while with hands off I got average upload and download. I must say that AT&T coverage at my job is really good! I tried to do the bar dropping test yesterday but I couldn't replicate it at my job by I could do it pretty much everywhere else. So maybe everywhere but great coverage could be a problem. The 3rd and 4th test I think are in the order of hands on and hands off but I'm not sure exactly. Either way it's good coverage on both at my job.

On the other hand this video demonstrates the effect that bridging the antennae has on call quality
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/tNmXrVNeGzs&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xd0d0d0&hl=en_ US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/tNmXrVNeGzs&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xd0d0d0&hl=en_ US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
What's cool is if you put just your finger over the gap between the antennae while doing the speed test you can easily effect the results and make speed go up by pressing and releasing your finger and the results are almost instantaneous.

Kind of blurry screen shooting it, but it's pretty clear and suprisingly smooth during the call.

Steve Jobs on iPhone 4 Signal Issue: 'Stay Tuned.'
Sunday June 27, 2010 12:57 AM EST; Category: iPhone
Written by arn
One MacRumors reader emailed Steve Jobs in a followup about the widely publicized iPhone 4 signal issues that have been reported across the web. In particular, rfbandit was asking about Apple's policy on giving free bumper cases to alleviate the issue. "I love everything about the phone except my signal issues", he wrote.
Steve Jobs reportedly replied immediately with:
There are no reception issues. Stay Tuned.
The response is notable in that it is not simply a copy/paste of the official statement from Apple. Steve Jobs had previously been replying to all signal inquiries on Friday with the same generic statement published Thursday:
Gripping any phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases.
That public statement from Apple essentially described the issue as a normal phenomenon. Today's email provides users some hope that a fix might somehow be on the way. In fact, one report even claimed an iOS update as early as Monday might be able to relieve the issue due to a lag in the iPhone 4's ability to switch between frequencies causing the loss in signal.

Day two done. Numbers swapped, got a frogz case for my new one, my son is playing with the 3G and all seems good. Can't reproduce the antenna issue, even before getting the case. Phone seems great, nice and fast. Tried out the new features except facetime. All is good..

quick camera test.
Decided to shoot a quick pic after my cruise this morning. One image from the camera, one with processing.
Not bad for a cell phone, not bad at all...

Ohh wow. When you double tap in the video recording mode, it zooms out to the actual 16:9 aspect ratio with black bars on the top and bottom.

Damn it! Has this ever happen to anyone else? You take a picture, and it doesn't save
On 3 occasions I had ONE chance to snap a quick pic and did so, except it wasn't saved. I just saw a white Hyundai Equus (with a manufacturer's plate/Michigan) And that thing was gorgeous! I honestly think some Hyundai bigwigs live in my area, it's always around here when I get my first sightings of Hyundai up and coming cars. Sorry for the OT
