Nothing that compares to Android multitasking though.

We've discovered references to Camera Flash in the iPhone SDK (again), suggesting that Apple is working on a physical camera flash for future versions of the iPhone. Apple has also integrated Grand Central Dispatch into the iPhone OS -- a technology introduced with Snow Leopard to ease the use of multi-core processors. The current iPhone currently only has single core processors, though there have been long-standing rumors that Apple might use the multi-core Cortex A9 in the future.
interesting...

Q: No background APIs for things like monitoring Twitter in background? A: We think Twitter and related services work much better with push notifications.

interesting tidbit about the support for bluetooth keyboards.

Bluetooth keyboards are going to be the next great iPhone accessory gold rush. Been jonesing for a million-dollar idea? Here you go: slider keyboard case with built-in extended battery. We prefer our royalties in cash, please.

iPhone OS 4.0 spotlight lets you directly search web, Wikipedia
By Ross Miller posted Apr 8th 2010 9:58PM
Apple did quite a bit today bringing its iPhone OS up to feature parity (and sometimes beyond) when compared with other modern smartphone platforms, and here's one piece not discussed today that we've been long wanting: web and Wikipedia search directly from Spotlight. WebOS and Windows Phone 7 have had it since inception, and Android's had it since Donut, and we're pretty happy to say that our OS 4.0-equipped iPhone is now also among the ranks, just 13 months after it first got a search bar. There you have it, folks, iPhone Spotlight is now useful.

i like this because i pretty much never use the spotlight search on my iphone. but if i could use it to do a search on safari a little bit quicker, then sweet.

I felt that way too. And the zoom function is too sensitive.

I see how it is. There is no pinch to zoom. You can only zoom to 100%.

The "mobile view" in Opera helps with picture heavy threads, but it's still not great.

No spell check.

It started off real good with load times but then it turned real bad real quick. I'm a few minutes away from deleting it.

Opera is pretty fast.

I think with a couple of updates it will be pretty good.

It's nice to see Apple approve another browser.

Since I just discovered this today, anyone here use Dragon Dictation and Siri?

Dragon Dictation is pretty good for a speech to text app. Its free so what the hell... and I can also fight back against my buddies who have DRoids who have been showing off their speech to text feature.

Siri is my new favorite (speech to text) personal reminder tool. I use "remind me to ______ in one hour, 5 days, one week, one month . You have to set up a push email account via MS Exchange, but it seriously takes the hassle out of typing in stuff and syncing stuff to my Amicus calender (which then syncs with MS Outlook then to Google calendar and finally to my iphone.) You can also book flight tickets, set reservations, etc with it. Pretty cool.

2011 iPhone to Sport 8-Megapixel Camera Sensor From Sony?

Tuesday April 13, 2010 12:27 PM EST; Category: iPhone
Written by Eric Slivka

Note: This is a Page 2 News Item

TheStreet's Scott Moritz reports on a research note from analyst Ashok Kumar claiming that Apple has signed on with Sony for an 8-megapixel camera sensor for the 2011 iPhone.

Hello Sony (SNE), goodbye OmniVision (OVTI). Apple has picked Sony's 8-megapixel camera chip for the 2011 iPhone, according to supply and manufacturing sources, said Rodman Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar.

If true, it's good news for iPhone fans looking for more photo shooting power on their phones. But the move would displace OmniVision, Apple's current camera supplier to the iPhone.
OmniVision has been reported to have received from Apple orders for 5-megapixel camera sensors for the next-generation iPhone expected to be introduced later this year. The iPhone 3GS currently sports a 3.2-megapixel sensor.

Moritz has had a spotty track record in his own predictions over the years, and has recently focused his efforts in large part on republishing information from research notes by Kumar, who carries a mixed record himself. In addition, the inherent uncertainties in information regarding a product two generations in the future has led us to post this item on Page 2.

More Claims of Next-Generation iPhone Launch for June 22nd

posted by Eric Slivka on Wednesday April 14, 2010 10:14 AM

A report from ModMyi claiming that Apple may be preparing to launch the next-generation iPhone on June 22nd has been generating some attention despite apparent confusion from a number of rumor sites. According to the report, Apple has booked a venue for the launch on that date.

Although no confirmations have yet come from Apple (naturally), there is speculation that the big reveal could take place on June 22nd. For this particular occasion, Apple has once again reserved the very conference center where the company announced the three previous versions of the iPhone. So all signs, indeed, point to June 22nd proving the 4th gen iPhone's "big day."
A number of sites (one, two, three) have taken the report to mean that Apple has booked the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, site of many Apple special media events in the past, for the unveiling. Nowhere in the original report, however, does it mention what the venue is or what the evidence for the claim that Apple has booked it is.

In fact, Apple's recent pattern has been to introduce new iPhone models as part of the keynote address for its Worldwide Developers Conference in the Moscone West convention center in San Francisco, so it appears that the report may be referring to WWDC.

In the absence of evidence or a source for the claim that Apple has booked a venue for June 22nd, we're taking this rumor with a grain of salt. It does match with an earlier report of a June 22nd launch date, but multiple hints have suggested that Apple is planning to hold WWDC a week later than that.

Regardless, Apple is expected to officially announced the dates for this year's WWDC in the near future, and, given past history, it would be a significant surprise if the new iPhone was not announced directly in conjunction with the conference.

megapixels!!!! OMG

anyone remember I was having trouble getting my phone to show up as a camera in XP. anyways tried some more possible fixes, didn't work.. found a workaround. go into camera roll, send, select multiple photos, copy, paste into new email. it sends them full-size. i was doing a panoramic and needed them full-size. anyways I'm happy with this work-around.

I'll be due for my 18-mo upgrade about August. Gives me plenty of time for the drones to flesh out the new models.
