Picked up my 15PM.
Saw the Natural Titanium in person, while nice, the backing is more of a grey color. Also looked at the black one. I think I'm content with Blue Titanium.
Currently setting it up. Stupid setup shit bugged out because of the software update. Couldn't get the set up badge to show up on my 12PM. So luckily I backed it up off my Mac and I'm currently transferring the data with a USB3 cable. Going pretty quick.

I think I’m sticking with 28mm for the main camera

Can y'all photo nerds give me your opinion of this guys LUTs, they're from the guy who made that video above.

I'm interested in shooting in LOG if it's as simple as apply a LUT in a video editor, but I'm not interested in learning how to create my own custom color grading LUT or whatever that process is called.

I’ve forgotten how annoying getting a new phone is. I have to sign out and/or delete apps on my old phone because my notifications are going to my old phone rather my new one
also good thing I still have my old phone, my work Authenticator Apps aren’t working on my new phone
went to work and realized I couldn’t access anything so I went back home and I’m WFH today.

For DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut, they should have been updated recently to support the apple log to rec709 LUT.
I’m personally looking for the Apple Log LUT myself so I can input it to BlackMagic Camera app so I can at least preview what my footage will look like rather than a desaturated image.

You can add LUTS to Blackmagic camera app so you can see the what it will look like in realtime!?

Goto Settings then turn on "Display LUT" you will need to add your LUT to the app with "LUT Selection"
In Final Cut, it automatically converted my LOG ProRes footage to Rec2020 standard. not sure how to change it to Rec709 with the BlackMagic Camera app as i dont intend to shoot HDR.

The Apple Log color space requires using a LUT in order to restore the colors but other color spaces like rec.2020 don’t require a LUT but you can use one for stylistic reasons. Does that sound right?

LUT’s should be used for reference when shooting. And perform actual color grading in post.

Got my 15 Pro today. I really like it but I have to get used to this always on thing and even on the same setting the font is much bigger.

So apparently all 15 models are experiencing some overheating and they aren't sure what is causing it. I might hold off getting a new one until they resolve it.
Also, they say the titanium phones are noticeably lighter than previous versions, but when I go to the apple site to compare models, the titanium ones are heavier. Can someone please clarify this for me? This is really confusing me...

The pro models are heavier than the base model. The base model is made out of an aluminum frame, the 14 pro has a stainless steel frame, and the 15 pro has titanium. Aluminum is lighter than titanium and titanium is lighter than stainless steel. I haven't experienced the overheating issue myself, it got warm when I transferred all my data from the old phone to the new phone but that's expected behavior since that's a very intensive task.

I left always on display on, but turned off wallpaper and notifications.
i like being able to glance at the phone and see the time and the widgets I have.
The screen is black and the font is white so additional battery usage should be negligible.

Yeah, I have wallpaper off but notifications on, for now

Live activites + always on display is useful. The Parkmobile app that you use for parking in downtown Tampa had a live activty countdown timer so I could easily glance at my phone and see how much time I have left on my parking spot

Does iOS 17.0.3 slow down the iPhone 15 Pro to prevent overheating? Here’s what preliminary tests show

Well, dropped my 12 mini on the ground yesterday, face down, and the whole back glass shattered, even with a case on.
So, soon thereafter went and got a 15. Happy so far, need to get used to the bigger size though.

The Belkin USB-C Ethernet adapter is a major power hog on iOS. This is whilst was connected but mostly sitting idle. it felt quite warm

Welp I did it, ordered a 15 Pro yesterday and it should be delivered today. Goodbye Android, hopefully I don't regret this! I will probably keep my google drive account for now.
How cross compatible is iCloud? Can I easily access a synced folder from Windows like I can with Google Drive?

Make sure y'all turn on stolen device protection when iOS 17.3 comes out
Also use and alphanumeric passcode and stop putting your passwords and other important info in the Notes app. Working in IT it's so depressing seeing the poor security most people have, everyone uses the same password, saves shit in the notes app or contacts app, and uses simplest password allowed.

maybe it changed with faceid, but I vaguely recall back with at least Touch ID, if I turned it off it would say some message about removing all my cards form the wallet. also I think my banking apps would require me to reenter my password or something.

They don't turn off FaceID, they add themselves as an alternate face and then I guess they can remove your face
