I don’t save anything to the cloud. Would rather not.
I have photos and videos dating back to 2012 on my phone. Totaling 253GB.
And yes I do look back at them. Quite often actually.
They're also backed up my raid.

Not really a big deal. 1) Many HDSLR and Mirrorless operate in a similar fashion. 2) with this phone...maybe 1 person is planning on buying that model to shoot video....and even that number might be pushing it.
It will still shoot compressed 4k for the masses.

I always thought I would eventually need to go to a 512gb storage on a phone but 256gb seems to have been the sweet spot. After 2 years of using it I still have 80gb free thanks to moving things to the cloud. Even with keeping a decent size listening library downloaded locally at full quality on my phone for when traveling and having bad service I still can't seem to fill up 256gb with upgrading every other year.

ATT has them. I was going to get my wife one because she loves the size too. But the upgrade deal for the 15 was too good.

What benefit is there for this tho? Particularly for an iPhone?
My 12 Pro Max is current at 78% battery capacity. If I wanted a new battery it would only cost me $89 from Apple.

I have the 14 pro max, and I really hate that, again, the camera on this new one is like, "better enough" that it would pique the interest of people who take a lot of photos....

Batteries degrade faster when charged above 80% or if they're fully discharged. So your battery will last longer the more you stay in that 10-80% range, and if your usage is low enough and the iPhone is efficient enough and has a big enough battery that you can pull that off with daily use and you plan to keep your phone for a long time then it's a nice option to have. My iPhone 12 is at 88% max capacity

Does iPhone have adaptive charging where it'll slow the rate of charge to be ready to rock when you wake up?

That looks like heat affected areas, not paint issues. Likely from the laser cut operation causing grain structure changes to the metal.
Batteries don't like to be kept at a high state of charge. If you can slow charge them up to be ready to unplug and start discharging soon after hitting 100% (which is definitely not actually 100% of battery capacity, it's SW limited) then it's fine. I've never not charged to 100% and it's totally fine.

new for iPhone 15 is the option now to charge just to 80% only.
