Dang, so there are estimates that when Apple activates ProRes it will eat up like 6GB per minute.
(And yes I already knew ProRes eats a lot of space, but there were rumors it might have a lower bitrate)
and yet Apple is STILL using USB 2.0 spec for the iPhone lightning port.
that’s going to take ages to transfer any footage off the phone.

Bumped up from a 10 to a 13 Pro Max on Tuesday. Loving it so far.

Since Apple is still providing security updates to iOS 14, No I’m not updating for exactly those reasons.

iOS 15 is available.
Neat that Apple is letting me still update to 14.8 vs just upgrading directly to 15.

Interesting!
this is good for people that don’t want to update yet to the newest OS for whatever reason.
Particularly if a new OS severely slows down your device.

I'm on iOS 15, they just released 15.0.1 as well in response to some Apple Watch users inability to unlock with watch.
So far no issues on my 11 Pro

Been on it from Beta 1. Yeah, I would wait until the next patch.

So Filmic Pro was able to tap in to the ProRes API and it added the ability to record in ProRes in their app.
Pretty interesting and definitely a noticeable difference.
But got damn that thing chews up space. He says it records at 600megabits/sec. Isnt able to transfer it via Airdrop. Only via Lightning USB2.0 speeds.

The OCR apps existed before live text, but live text works well.

Anybody else get the message 'No SIM card installed'? I've been getting it every now and then on my iphone 12 (less than a year old). I also got it a bunch on my previous iphone 8.
Sure it usually goes away by itself pretty quickly on my 12 (bigger issues with the 8), but it is getting annoying.

I have never gotten that message with any of my phones. Last year the family upgraded to iPhone 12 Pros (x4) and also did the "TNX" between Sprint and T-Mobile (which involved swapping out sim cards) and so far none of us have had that message come up.

Saw that but didn’t read in to it yet. Interesting.

It should have happened a long time ago.

My guess is that it's a little less secure, and it doesn't support sunglasses.
I'll try it out but I may switch back to full face ID with apple watch unlock.

Wonder if I should upgrade my moms phone or go base 13.
i did upgrade her to 2nd gen iPhone SE in 2020. I think she prefers the physical home button.

If so, the SE with fingerprint reader on a button would be easier to use than a face-ID phone, unless she has an Apple Watch.
That's even more an issue if she wears a face mask in stores.
The home button is the primary reason I haven't moved to a 13-mini.

She doesn’t use Apple Pay nor does she use the finger print reader
My understanding she prefers a physical button as a way to “close” whatever she is doing.
I’ll have to look in to the SE3 to see if the camera is upgraded enough, that’s the main thing she complains about compared to my 12 Pro Max.

Haptic feedback on the keyboard is nice

Also CallKit for Apple Watch is finally coming!
you’ve never been able to answer calls from voip apps on your watch.
no matter what voice app I use I’ll never get notified of an incoming void call on my Apple Watch. This should fix that. Which has been one of the most annoying things for me about the Apple Watch

iOS 16. Beta one has been pretty stable for me, I’ve been using it on my iPhone and iPad for a few weeks now and haven’t seen really any stability issues. The new features have been nice the text dictation and auto punctuation isn’t too good, but I used the FaceTime hand feature to move a FaceTime video chat from my iPhone to my iPad. Yesterday. The mark as read feature and iMessage is nice, I really like the new lock screen and that’s kind of what stands out the most. So far. So go to www.betaprofiles.com. If you wanna test it out yourself

Its ok so far. Teams crashes which kind of sucks.

The auto punctuation sucks. It’s barely worth using it. It likes to put commas where there should be none and loves to put periods in the middle of sentences if you ever pause while talking. Maybe it will get better with more beta builds. If not, people are going to find this annoying, however, the ability to use the keyboard and the microphone at the same time is really nice.
