I was just reading that..it's weird cause I've owned 2 iPhones already(unlocked to tmobile) and it worked fine..didn't do anything special...just set it up just like I did with this new iPhone...still getting the "connection to the server imap.gmail.com has failed"
I called AT&T and they said to do a soft reset by pressing the power button and home button at the same time...all that does is take a snap shot
is there anything I need to change in the mail account set up?

Are you sure your re-setting properly? The phone should reset by pressing those 2 buttons simultaneously.

Don't use the phone's setup for gmail. Use Gmail's setup.

What am I missing here?

And no, picked up a touch a few months ago. Can't justify an iphone since I won't use it for data. Buying the phone without a data plan is way too much. Up here at least.

Not too impress with the battery life with this 3GS tho. I left the house earlier tonight with 99%. Got to the gym's parking lot and surfed the net with it for about 5 minutes while the NO Explode get in my system. Started working out using the Motorola S9 BT headset. The S9's battery died on me now it's at 22%! It's kinda odd how fast it drained tonight tho. It's normally not like this.

Do you cycle the battery from full charge to full drain to full charge?

No, because I asked (earlier in this thread) if doing so is necessary and I was told, "no".

I haven't cycled it and I haven't had that issue. I'm OK with battery life - it just depends what you do. The lowest it's gotten from a full day of regular use is about 40%. I turn off bluetooth and wifi at work since I don't use those radios, so no sense in having them on wasting battery. I usually stream music from internet radio on the way home now - that drops it about 10%/hr.

I think turning off radios you don't need is the key.

Exactamundo. By doing that my battery can last 1-3 days depending on how much I use talktime I use as well as apps. If i play games, gaurenteed I'll have to charge it.

I haven't even really played with the camera... well, I've taken some pics but haven't played with the features. And haven't even use the video recording yet either.

Getting a white one will just add to the list of reasons you don't get laid.

If someone emails to me a QuickTime vid....is there a way to download the vid to the iPhone and access the vid via iPod stored vids on the iPhone.....or do I have to go to the specific email that contained the vid to watch it every time?

I know how to do this using my computer and iTunes....but I need to know if all this can be done on the iPhone without syncing with the computer and iTunes .....as if you were on the road without your computer.

Not being able to do this is

Agreed, but at least it seems Apple is working on it. Can't expect a new video capability to be perfect on a software level.

if I had to recommend a game right now, it'd have to be "I Dig It" For 0.99 it's a steal. Hours and hours of enjoyment.
