More than likely not until Oct-Dec 2012 time frame since Q4 (July-Sept) guidance is down. iPhone 4S sale are slowing... a lot of people waiting for iPhone 5 and Apple knows this.

Apple’s guidance for the fourth quarter also disappointed: The company forecast $7.65 a share for earnings on revenue of $34 billion. Analysts had been looking for $10.22 a share in earnings on revenue of $38 billion.

No more built in YouTube app with ios 6... Due to the license that apple must include it has ended.

Google will be making a standalone version for ios or you can goto safari.

Anyways doesn't matter to me since i turned on the restriction for the YouTube app since the safari webapp is much better.

Glad to hear about that waste of time You Tube app. With a JB I eliminated the Safari to YouTube app when you'd click on a vid but before that it was so annoying like with the comments and stuff. I do hope that You Tube improves the Mobile experience with their app. Stuff like liking comments, quoting comments, and other stuff don't work well.

More evidence of a taller display on the new iPhone

iOS 6 Automatically Scales to Fit Taller 1136x640 iPhone Display
Aug 7, 2012 9:28 am PDT by Eric Slivka
9to5Mac reports that it has discovered through some testing with Apple's official iOS simulator that iOS 6 is capable of automatically scaling its home screen display to fit a taller 1136x640 display, compared to the current 960x640 display. Numerous rumors and part leaks have indicated that Apple will be including a taller display on the next-generation iPhone to be introduced next month.
Thanks to some tweaks to the iOS Simulator application that is included in the iOS development tools, we were able to run the simulator at the rumored next-generation iPhone display resolution of 640 x 1136. We did this running both the current public release of iOS 5.1 and the upcoming iOS 6.0 The iOS 5.1 simulator displayed the home screen with a stretched set of four rows of icons. On the other hand, iOS 6 displayed five complete rows – as our sources said Apple was testing for taller iPhone displays.

iOS simulator at 1136x640 with five rows of icons under iOS 6 and four rows under iOS 5.1

Notably, setting the iOS simulator to resolutions other than 1136x640 does not result in automatic scaling, with the software instead simply defaulting to an "iPad-like home screen layout" different from what is seen for the iPhone. The observation suggests that there is something special about that 1136x640 resolution that suggests Apple has at least been working on an iOS 6 device supporting that screen size.

Luckily she doesnt have any apps and all the stuff she uses (calendar notes text messages contacts etc) wont be erased and will be backed up to the mac mini. i hope

argh.. i fail at this.

why is it everytime i update to a new version of iOS, it gives me the biggest headache ever.

so i updated the 3GS to iOS 5, when i restore, it keeps on giving me an error.

so i check to see if everything is up to date. still nothing. restart, nothing. unplug all non essential USB devices, nothing. try restoring on the windows pc. nothing. update iTunes on the PC, still nothing.

then i restarted the iPhone, try one more time on the mac, and now its finally restoring

Report: Next iPhone goes on sale September 21

By Doug Gross, CNN
updated 5:35 AM EDT, Wed August 15, 2012

The iPhone 4S, the fifth generation of Apple's iconic smartphone, may be updated Septermber 12

STORY HIGHLIGHTS

New reports set September 21 release date for iPhone 5
Pre-orders will begin September 12, says blog iMore
Sites are reporting increase in sales of used smartphones

(CNN) -- More details about the presumably imminent release of the next iPhone have emerged, if the typically anonymous spate of Internet sources are to be believed.

iMore, the first blog to publish reports that Apple plans to unveil its latest iteration of the smartphone on September 12, is now saying that pre-orders will begin that day and that the phone will be released nine days later, on September 21.

Both reports from the blog cite "sources that have provided iMore with accurate iPhone related launch dates in the past." Several other blogs later cited their own sources saying the September 12 date is likely correct.

International launches in Europe and elsewhere will begin the first week of October, iMore said, possibly October 5.

Apple, to date, has made no official announcement.

iPhone speculation has focused on a handful of expected new features, including a slightly larger screen, a smaller dock connector and NFC technology that would make it easier for shoppers to make payments through their phones.

There are also varying opinions as to whether CEO Tim Cook might also unveil a smaller "iPad Mini" at the event. Once considered a no-go because of late CEO Steve Jobs' statements that a smaller tablet wouldn't work, observers increasingly think Apple could offer one to compete with emerging competitors like Amazon's Kindle Fire and Google's Nexus 7.

Current iPhone owners seem convinced that a rollout is imminent.

Last week, Ebay reported that it was seeing a surge in the number of people using the site for trade-in offers on their smartphones.

The site's "Instant Sale" feature, which offers a pre-determined amount for electronics based on what someone else has offered, saw its number of phone trade-in offers jump 70% between July 30 and August 1. That's when the September 12 release-date rumors began circulating.

On Tuesday, a working, 32GB iPhone 3GS got an instant $91 offer; a 16GB iPhone 4 would bring in $176; and the top-end iPhone 4S, the 64GB model, would get $371.

That sucks.

I actually stopped using a screen protector for about a year now, luckily no major scratches. (probably a lot of minor ones that can be only seen at a certain angle or light)

Anyways, this new iPhone needs to get here sooner, my battery life isn't so great and it's running laggy at times and surfing azine is getting damn annoying. Plus my backlight seems to be getting darker.

Ohh how could i forget my biggest one, my failing home button. It's so bad I had to turn on the virtual on screen one. Otherwise I'll be stuck in an app.

Seems to be a common issue. All my relatives in hong long have the issue too.

I'm still rock'n a 3GS if you can believe that.

It's barely making it. It's getting soooo slow.

Next iPhone can't come soon enough.

Hang on 3Gs....hang on!!

Or maybe because you guys are pushing it like a video game controller?

Anybody that has a Verizon 64gb 4s I might be interested in it, if you're not asking a fortune. <$400

are you implying all of Mizouse's relatives in Hong Kong use it like a video game controller as well?

The problem with it, is that te button is used ALOT. I mean used to
Unlock the phone, exit apps, multitasking, used to skip tracks or go back (if you're not in the music app) etc etc. too much use wears down anything.

Too bad the screen is too small for multi tasking gestures. Cause I rarely use the home button on my iPad (it also feels better built on the ipad anyways)

Aren't you jailbroken? Zephyr allows you to swipe out of apps when you're button is acting up. There's another tweak where you can double tap the clock on the lock screen to bring up iPad controls.

No need to jailbreak. There is a built in accessibility option that puts up a onscreen home button as well as other finctions

You're kind of screwed because Facetime over 3G will probably kill your "unlimited" data and then they pump the brakes.

Unlimited data means after 3GB per month they throttle your data speed. You'll surpass if you start Facetime calling like crazy over 3G thus your speeds going to shit.

Verizon Vacation Blackout Reveals The New iPhone Will Launch On Friday, September 21

A trusted Verizon employee has just confirmed to TechCrunch that the carrier is having an all-staff vacation blackout from the dates of Friday, September 21 to September 30. You know what that means, right?

The next iPhone, whether it’s called the iPhone 5 or simply the new iPhone, will almost certainly be available in stores (with lines wrapping around the back of them) starting Friday, September 21.

If we travel back a bit and examine the historical timeline from Apple’s announcement, to pre-order, to launch, the dates all seem to match up.

Last year Apple announced the iPhone 4S on a Tuesday, October 4th. The phone went up for pre-order on that Friday, October 7, and was available in stores on Friday, October 14, a week later.

The iPhone 5/2012 timeline looks almost identical:

Expected announcement: Wednesday, September 12
Expected pre-order date: Wednesday, September 12
Launch date, as confirmed by our trusted source: Friday, September 21

more pictures of the logic board showed up today with the EMF shield taken off.

the source says that its using an A5X, but i dunno about that. i mean the 4S is using the A5 and the iphone wouldnt necessarily benefit from the same quad core graphics being that it doesnt have to push as many pixels.

or it could be but the GPU is under clocked? who knows? apple does
