So I just returned my galaxy s2 for the iPhone 4s at Bestbuy only cos I didn't like how big the s2 was in my hand. I might switch back though as I have a few more weeks to figure it out under their return policy. Do you guys think a decent jailbreak will be out soon for the 4s? It seems everyone is having trouble overcoming the A5 CPU.

^Good news is that it seems to be the focus now.
I upgraded to 5.0.1 last night and did the redsnow untether. Pretty easy jailbreak. Def easier than the 4.0 I did back in the day. But I had to restore the ispw from a 3rd party rather than directly through iTunes because it kept prompting me to back up which would have taken days. It's a common issue apparently so I gotta reinstall my tweaks. I notice that six icon dock and five icon folder don't work or cause safe mode.

Just saw today that there may be a functional jailbreak in about a week. I am on 5.0.1 already with the 4S. What is ISPW?

Anyone with a JB'd iPhone on here.. Do you guys have issues getting software updates or is the community quick with workarounds or new jailbreaks when apple updates their firmware? Also how do you guys back up and restore your cydia market apps if you want to update the phone?

If you purchased apps via Cydia on the Cydia home page in the app there's a button to log into your account to save your purchases. You have to have a Facebook or Google log in for it to remember you. There are apps to backup the tweaks you download but I can't remember their names at the moment. If you go to the forum at macrumors.com there's a couple of threads on that.
However, you might not want to save your 4.x.x tweaks as they could cause you to go into safe mode. 5 row folder icon (I think was the name) is one that would do that every time I wanted to move around my apps/folders. I saw a really nice list yesterday of about 550 Cydia tweaks and saying whether it will work on 5.0.1. There are a decent amount that they are in the process of fixing that don't work yet or are buggy.

No don't blow dry! That'll spread the water even more. If he already attempted to turn it on, there's a good chance he shorted it. In the future, when you drop any electronic device into water, do NOT attempt to turn it on right away. Place it in a ziplock bag full of uncooked rice or those silica gels you find in shoe boxes overnight (24 hours or more) before attempting to turn it on again. This will suck up the water from the device. Depending on how much damage the water got to the device, it may be fully functional or not at all.

I take its not the newer AppleCare+ ?
Cause the new one covers up to 2 accidental damage incidents w/ $49 service charge per incident

FYI the iPhone uses Pentalobe screws so you probably won't be able to take it apart. But I agree with what CGFeb said....

ehh...nvm i think the older plan was $99... or was it $70, i forget.
Anyways!
pretty sure you got AppleCare+ as they dont offer the older plan anymore.
which means if it is broken, you can replace the unit for $49

OMG I love http://www.idownloadblog.com/ I picked up so many tweaks over the weekend from this guy's videos. A little dorky but very informative and super helpful. Taught me plenty here.

Dang iPhone was announced 5 years ago today.

And w/o it, people would still think the Razr 1G is the coolest phone.

The Razr was the biggest POS. I remember the hula hoops I had to jump through just to add ringtones to that garbage. Plus it sucked as a phone altogether. My wife had one but I never bought into the hype.

I had one for seven years (last March). Dropped it in the toilet still worked liked a charm, though vibrate stopped working around year six.
