I need to check, but I thought they didn't sell LTE iPads. Maybe online they do... Pretty sure it's not an in-store thing.

I think you can get them at ATT or Verizon.

So here's the rub. You can get them online. However, they're not currently available online, for whatever reason. And Target won't say when they'll become available.
I was kicking around making my iPhone a hotspot. Then I read the reviews and the fact that the battery gets depleted very quickly. Not a great option. And to mention the fact that I would have to forego my unlimited data plan on the 5s. Basically a non-starter. Although, i can do a 10GB shared plan, unlimited talk and text (which I don't need) and come out the same as two separate data plans for the two iPhones and data for my iPad. But I would have to use my phone as a hotspot, unless I buy a cellular iPad, but then it's another $20 to add that device to the data plan, and I'd be spending more money.
I'm looking at a mifi option... But it's $50 for 5GB, which would be $40 after my corporate discount. My unlimited data for the OG iPad is $30, so maybe spending $10 more to get a LTE hotspot, allowing my iPad mini (WiFi only) and a potential iPad Air (WiFi) to use is a justifiable benefit. But that's another device to charge and carry...
I just don't want to give up my unlimited iPhone data.
Ugh!

I would think giving up unlimited iPad data is a bigger deal than phone.

Perhaps, but I average about 1gb a month of data on that device.

I'd do the mifi. It's more versatile than either dumping the unlimited data on your iPhone or having just one cellular iPad. I use my iPhone as a hotspot when necessary, but yes, it does drain the battery real fast.

I was going to go with the mini retina but after playing with the iPad air I decided to stick with the bigger one.
The air is light enough. And after playing with the mini I missed the bigger screen.
The air seems to be the best of both worlds...

Seriously! It's nice, the lightness is really noticeable. I can't see myself upgrading for a long time. The thinness is less noticeable than the weight, probable because the old iPad had much more tapered edges hiding its relative thickness..
iOS definitely runs better on the air than the 3rd gen...

iOS7 runs just fine on the 3rd gen. I haven't have any issues or noticed any slowing down.

hmm iPad Mini Retina v iPad Air
Been wanting a smaller tablet for awhile and been waiting for the iPad Mini with Retina for awhile now. The bigger plus is that they made it exactly like the Air just with a smaller screen, that makes it a deal for me.
But I'm open to opinions from all of you on the Air. I do plan on buying the iPad Mini R to turn it around and make a profit on eBay since rumors are that they are short on them. Buying 4, keep one. Hopefully the profits made will pay for the Mini (at a minimum )

The mini retina is ever so slightly heavier than the regular mini...

Safari is so much faster on the air than the iPad 3. Almost PC fast, a much more enjoyable device.

Agree. I have a mini as well and when I picked up the air, with the shrunken bezel it really makes for a nice device. I need to find some sort of a case for it. Leaning towards the all-leather apple case. $80, though.

I also ended up getting an ATT mifi, which I used over the weekend when we were out to dinner with the kids. Amazing what some youtube streaming will do for peace and quite while eating...

a bunch of my local apple stores have them listed in stock....for now....
And doing another check...they have all the models...both colors....stock in the stores in the very sporadic as to what store has what model.
And I'm guessing they'll all sell very fast.

Yep, and it's going back tonight. The bottom 1/3 rd of the screen has a weird Yellow tint. There's a bunch of people on macrumors seeing the same thing as well. I was able to reserve another one for pick up tonight so I can do the exchange. Hopefully the new one won't have the issue. Appears that the rumors about display yields were true.
