I think I should be able to make due. I'm used to my Late 2011 having an SSD and HDD (took out the SuperDrive) and using it as my main computer to do everything. I'm not going to keep my entire photo or iTunes library on my new MacBook Pro so that takes care of most of my files. If anything, I'll put some video files on the SSD I bought for an external and use that when there's something I don't want to stream. Having my bare bones NAS and a Linksys router that supports VPN should help to...even more so if my internet service gets upgraded from it's current 25/5 Down/Up.

Got my 13" yesterday and I really like it. Compared to how my 2011 was practically the thinnest and lightest back then, how this is just feels ridiculous. Just been doing basic tasks so far, but the speeds are great, screen is bright (freaking love having a Retina Display and it's scaled to look like the 1440x900 of my 15" out of the box). I haven't been using the Touch Bar a whole lot because of my habits/muscle memory of using keyboard shortcuts, but I'm sure I'll start to use it more in the future. I also don't get how so many people hated on the butterfly keyboard. It's really not bad IMO and I don't think my typing speeds have suffered compared to the older-style of my 2011 and my Wireless Keyboard. Haven't tried editing in Affinity Photo yet, but soon I will. One thing I can say for certain is how quiet it is. I'm using my old one in a BookArc connected to my 1440p monitor and the fans are running full speed just on here and having a YouTube video in split screen.

I played with the touch bar this evening at best buy...its neat...seems like its a bit small for anything super productive. It kept making me want to try and touch the screen to launch apps.

I like the huge track pad.

Overall, nice. Didn't blow my skirt up.

I also found myself trying to touch the screen after using the touch bar.

I got tired of waiting for the BTO model so I just got the $1999 13 inch model. i5 and 8GB with TB. Runs great. Better then my 2015 i7 with 16GB. So far I love it.

I see Best Buy is going to have $200 off on Macbook Air for Black Friday. My 9th grade girl wants a mac for xmas. She is not a serious computer user. She would use it for surfing, youtube, MS Word. Is the Air worth it at that price level? Other option is previous gen MBP but don't think 128GB is enough storage. To put 256GB in previous gen I might as well get the current gen MBP?

I have a mid 2014 MBP that really would be great for her and then I would get myself a new machine. Don't know how she would appreciate a hand me down. Maybe I'll just give it to her and not call it an xmas gift.

I'm also realizing that I have a habit of massaging the keys here and there for whatever reason. So I do accidentally touch the touch bar.

Amazon and B&H has this for $100 off. B&H throws in free Parallels desktop and no sales tax for me.

There's the OWC one that's coming out. But it's thunderbolt 3 (not sure if they're the same as USB-C )

I guess I can wait a few months to see what comes out and see what people like. Those docks are pretty damn cool though. Thunderbolt 3 is powerful. For what I do I think I can survive with a usb-c/usb-a adapter and then eventually get one of those docks if I need more connectivity. I realized that I rarely plug in anything to my current mbp since I stopped working from home. I'm less concerned about only having a couple of usb-c ports now.

Amazon just delivered this one and it's fine for me. Not Thunderbolt 3, but I really only needed USB-A and SD for my DSLR.

Received today. Wow that was fast free shipping from B&H (UPS Ground). Did a time machine restore to it. I bought a USB dongle for $9 and I'm good to go for now. I don't know why people bitching about the keyboard, I like it. I'm happy. I wiped my old one and gave it to my kid, she's happy too.

The touch bar wil be really useful for many programs. I can see it being very good for photography programs. That being said, I'll probably never own one, to know.

even with a USB A port, those Logitech receives were a pain. And its not like the new MacBook Pro has a great trackpad or anything like that.

Looks like AirPods that went on sale Monday are very hard to come by. In store orders are saying early/mid Feb...Online orders are saying 6-8 weeks. There were lines on Monday to get the limited quantities and people are trying to sell them on CL and eBay for $250-$500.

Unless of course you check in on their site from time to time...and see that stores are randomly resupplying stock in small quantities. I managed to reserve a pair for in store pick up today, fuck the schillers tee hee.
