128GB Air 2 is $699

Macbook 256GB is $1299

Add $100 for the 256GB Drive bring its to $799, add $100 for the keyboard $899 so its $899 compared to $1299. So you are paying $400 more to have OSX instead of IOS. Add in the tackpad, 8GB RAM compared to 2 on the Air and the difference is even less.

Yeah this is Apple's typical gen 1 product where they leave out the critical feature everyone wanted. Gen 2 will get the touchscreen and then this one will be useless.

This is very much the first mba. It had a custom core 2 duo that was pretty weak in performance like this core m is. I'd like a logical technical explanation of why they only included one port. I expect them to add another in the future like they did with the mba, seems they didn't learn their lesson last time

Touch-screen Mac unlikely, says Apple's Federighi - CNET

Touch-screen Mac unlikely, says Apple's Federighi

The head of Apple's software business explains to CNET why we won't be seeing an iMac or other Apple computers with a touch screen.

October 16, 2014 5:30 PM PDT

Craig Federighi, Apple senior vice president of software engineering, told CNET after the company's iPad and Mac launch Thursday that introducing Macs with touch screens is something Apple has no plans to do.

"We don't think it's the right interface, honestly," he said. "Mac is sort of a sit-down experience."

Federighi added that it's awkward and uncomfortable to sit at a desk and continuously reach forward to touch a computer screen. It's not like an iPad or iPhone that you hold in your hands and use in a "very relaxed position."

"We've really focused on building the best track pads we can, something where it feels [like] your posture's relaxed, it's a comfortable machine to use," he said. "And, of course, over the years we've experimented with all the technology, but we found it just wasn't good. ... We're not all that interested in building one."

Easy, Jup... Step away from the caffeine.

I have no intention of buying it. My MBP is fine for me, with two USB and two thunderbolt ports.

He asked a question, I gave him an answer.

Actually the latest rumor is Apple did create the USB-C tech and handed it over to the authorities. Lol

Played with the force trackpad on the 13 inch Pro today. Felt pretty good, but could tell I would have to get use to it.

I thought the performance of the new lineup was lacking? Like the iPad Air 2 has more power in a handful of tests vs the new macbook...

The macbook is basically an overpriced netbook. You know, the thing that Steve Jobs said sucked when he introduced the iPad. At least it has flash storage and 8GB of ram so it won't be a complete dog.
