Remember you're going to have to buy a bunch of dongles to plug into the Type C port...all sold separately :smithersevillaugh:

This is the $79 accessory that replaces all the MacBook ports | The Verge
Apple is ditching all of its traditional MacBook ports for a single USB Type-C connector in its new 12-inch MacBook. It's a smaller reversible connector, and it's not compatible with existing full-size USB accessories. If you want to charge, use a monitor, and use a USB device all at the same time, then you'll need a $79 accessory. There are two options: VGA or HDMI; they're both $79 and sold separately from the base $1,299 price of the new MacBook.

Those who just want to use a USB accessory and not charge at the same time can opt for a $19 USB to USB Type-C adapter. Be prepared to get your wallet out for these new accessories if you want your new MacBook to be useful once you unbox it, though. Sadly, there's no adapter for those who need ethernet connectivity or SD cards, so you'll need to use USB to USB Type-C for both. If you simply want a spare power connector for a new MacBook then you'll need to pay $78, that's $29 for a 2-meter cable and $49 for the actual power block. Yes, they're both sold separately.

Making everything thinner and smaller also means it's harder to service/repair/upgrade yourself.

Some third party will make a dock for that port. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

I have no need for the macbook because it's too small. If it wasn't so expensive I would consider it for my kids. But I wouldn't pay more than $800 for it.

They should dip it in gold and sell for for $100k so it can match your $10k watch that will be obsolete in 2 years.

I barely plug in anything into my Macbook and it has 2 USB ports. I almost always wireless everything and I think Apple sees the trend going there, over the years they have slowly eliminated ports and everything has been fine. The new MBA is supposed to be an ultraportable for the Joe User who wants a fancy Apple email machine with a keyboard.

Either way, I'm so glad the 13.3 rMBP got an update! Time for me to finally buy a new laptop since 2008!

Thank you Timmy Cook.

Tempted to get my hands on the 10K Apple Watch to resell to some rich dummy.

I have a USB receiver for my wireless mouse permanently plugged into 1 of my USB ports. I prefer using a real mouse over a track pad most of the time.

I hope they eventually upgrade the MBA to retina.

Shoot the MacBook is running Intel 5300 graphics vs 6000 on the upgraded 11-13" So it's not like I can't run it.

Btw it wasn't mentioned but the 13" retina MBP was updated to 5th gen Intel chips, iris 6100, faster flash and the force touch trackpad.

No love for the 15".

I need to understand why my trackpad needs to shake like a gamepad.

BTW i prefer mouse too but my mbp has the first trackpad that i have been willing to use.

I used magic trackpad for a month with my imac and went back to mouse. Magic trackpad hurt my hand.

That's because the Quad Core Broadwell chips haven't been release yet.

I'm with ya on both points. Wallet safe on this announcement. Although I might grab an Atv for the bedroom, kinda pissed there wasn't new hardware for it.

Yeah I was hoping for 4k ATV when they started with it. Though maybe they're lowering the price to clear out stock for the new 4k model...

Apple won't jump on that bandwagon yet. IMO it's not mature/saturated enough.
