Its across the ocean and I can't do it. My current MB Pro is a beast, runs great and I can't see the need for retina. The HP Envy is the same one HP is selling with Windows 8. As much as it kills me, Im not moving this time. I just saved a lot of money.

I wonder if I just max my current laptop out to 8gb if I'd be fine....its not the situation I want....but it would be cheaper for the time being.

8 will probably suffice. But knowing that's all you can ever have is what sucks. I don't understand the decision to solder in the ram...

tradional RAM wouldnt fit in the thinner profile...and soldering keeps the control in their hands and money in their pockets.

Yea I think I gotta go with either the 15 retina or non.
Not digging the 8gb max and no discrete graphics.
Ill just keep saving my pennies for the 2nd gem retinas.

People tried to get me to bite on that last time...I went 13" and its been great...some of my best photos have been done on this machine.
Its been the switch to a camera that shoots 36.3MP files thats killing me.
I was just talking to my resident super apple nerd friend who was saying 8GB now with the bus speeds and architecture is much faster than even if I upgraded to 8GB on my current machine...and yeah its true and makes sense.
I dont know...Ill wait until they get them at stores and I'll bring in a SD card with some shots and see how it handles them.
I could probably live nicely with 256 SSD and the 2.9i7 for around 2k with the education discount.
