I checked a month or so ago and they were getting $800-$900 for the 24".

IMO you don't need a clean room, just not a dirty room. I only had a couple specs of dust on the inside of the glass when I did mine in a not so clean room. It was easily resolved.

Do me a favor, measure from top of monitor to desk at full extension and lowest. Want to know if it'll fit my setup.

$659 through Apple refurb. $429 is a really good deal if it's really 64GB/wi-fi *and* 3G

Don't you have to buy the data plan if you buy the 3G from ATT? Or am I understanding this wrong?

No Service Commitment. Min. $14.99/mo. data plan required.
They are out of stock of the refurb 64GB 3G gen 1 ipads. Selling the refurb 32GB for $429 as well.

I don't know if they changed it or not but the iMac was always a fixed height display.

Personally, having owned a mac and windows machine, I prefer windows because it feels much more open/less restricted. Either one is solid, though.

Don't know how old that "test" is, but they are saying they used CS3 (released Sept 2003), CS5 is now the standard, CS6 on the way. IIRC CS3 was 32 bit only and was out when XP/Vista was the norm for PC.

On the Hackintosh my wife doesn't notice any difference between OS X and Win7 on Illustrator, Indesign or Photoshop.

Interesting, I didn't know that the current Macbook Pros supported 450Mb Wireless N. The new iMacs do too. I also didn't know that the current Apple base stations supported it.

http://www.macworld.com/article/1597...okpro_ssd.html

(The iMac on Thursday also got a firmware upgrade, enabling it to use its 6Gbit/sec throughput on the drives. That throughput matches the SATA 3.0 specification used in the latest SSDs, paving the way for the iMac to get the utmost from future SSDs.)
Fawkers....Now I'm jealous.

Ever since I got my iMac i've been using my MBP much less at home. Sure the iMac is faster, but I love sitting on the couch with my MBP, but the new iMac's are solid. Makes me pissed that I was an early adopter of the 27" version. I'd love to have the latest model with the better graphics card.

I love the new 27", what scares me with this setup, monitor goes out, can't easily grab an old one in the closet and change it out.

you could keep a 27" iMac in the closet for just such occasions

I may be a different story, but I've never gone through a monitor before a new computer. And now I'm basically all notebooks: macbook pro, macbook air, dell netbook and you're in the same situation with them if the screen goes out.

yea, same thing scares me, but I guess it didnt' bother me as much because I have the MBP in case I ever need to have the iMac repaired. And with my current backup solution in place, getting my data [hopefully] shouldn't be a problem.

Tell me about it, I was given my old work laptop after seven something years. I was going to set it up for my son. As soon as I reformatted the drive, damn monitor went out.

You wanna know what really happened? Steve jobs was watching what you were doing through your iMac's Web Cam and knew exactly when to pull the plug.
