Apple: App News and Discussion Thread
The latest Nightstand update no longer cuts off the iPod, so that moves it up a notch in my recommend category.
I downloaded the Kensington Rise & Shine app, and it's meh at best. If you've bought their landscape charger, sure.

just set myself up with mint.com
omg so much easier than entering in all the info manually into the older finance app i was using before.
but! because i update that app right away, its more up to date (ie. mint.com wont show a check i wrote until it clears the bank, and it don't think it shows credit purchases right away either)
guess ill keep both.

silly question-- Where does the progress for an app/game save? on the ipod or in the app info itself? Just wondering if I'd have to redo all the levels if I get a new ipod.
I was just thinking about that yesterday. My guess is that if the info is stored in the cloud, which is how it should be, then it won't matter, but if they store the data locally, then you may have problems. I don't know if Apple let's you restore a new device using the restore files from another, if they do, then that will get your data on the new device, if not, I have no idea. I'm just speculating here, I've never had to do this, yet.

Hmm maybe I'll just try it. If it doesn't transfer then I'll just finish angry birds on my old ipod
The battery in my ipod only lasts about 30 min when playing games and it's past its warranty. I pretty much have to leave it plugged in to play games. Kind of a pain.

I've been putting off getting a new phone in hopes of getting one next June when the next iPhone comes out, but at this rate, I don't think I'll be able to put up with it for that long.
Verizon's 4G network will be available in 38 markets and major airports, covering approximately 100+ million people by the end of the year. We plan to double that in 2012 and cover our entire existing 3G footprint with 4G LTE by the end of 2013.
That's because AT&T is much much behind Verizon rolling out LTE. Too many variables with Android handsets with Verizon. I'll wait for the iphone.
Still no white iPhone http://www.appleinsider.com/articles...e_4_rumor.html
Jobs will look great calling a conference to introduce the white iPhone 4 and 4 weeks later the black iPhone 5.

so i just downloaded the free Air Video app for my iPhone, its a universal app that works with iPad too.
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/air-v...06550020?mt=8#
(that link is for the paid version, the free version limits the amount of videos that can be shown in the folders)
anyways it lets me connect to my computer and watch any video i have on my cpu.
its transcodes the videos on the fly, and even lets you download it to your phone for offline viewing.
also i can connect to my cpu while away from home, ie over 3G
it works the same way as teamviewer in that i have to have software running on my cpu, the software generates a pin number, i put that pin number into the app on the phone and then i can connect to my cpu.
i like it so far.
right now watching some *.mkv top gear season 16 episodes on my iPhone.
also if i had an apple TV i could push the videos to it. so now in a way apple TV supports mkv and xvid files....

i just got this one app, its a spy camera.
pretty much if you turn down the brightness on your phone and open the app, the camera turns on to a black screen. so it looks like the phone is in sleep mode.
you can can set it to use either the front or rear camera and it takes pictures every 5 seconds or video.
only thing that sux is that if you're taking video and press the home button you lose what you're recording. but if you hit the sleep button it'll save and lock the phone.
what????????

Any one playing "High Noon"? I'm mildly addicted at this point. It's a western gun duel game played against other players around the world. Basically, you can steal peoples gold or challenge them to a duel to collect the reward money.
Your iphone is you gun. You have to holster it, draw it, and gun down your opponent with it before he does the same to you.

iBooks 3.0 released. Among iCloud supported, I like that they finally added Scroll View which provides for full screen landscape mode which is something I requested a few months ago. Gonna make reading my programming books much easier now.
Hoping that they fix the following soon:
- Highlighting feature to allow for spanning page breaks
- Allow for already highlighted items to have their start/end points be updated.
- Continuous View where there are no page breaks except for where there are logical breaks, (new chapter, index, toc, etc). This may solve my request for highlighting across page breaks.
