I should've mentioned its in the nightlies not the RCs. Should be in the latest nightly for all builds. Then just go into CyanogenMod settings and it should be in there.

Also they've added a Calendar notification on the Lockscreen so you can see your events on your lockscreen. I tried it out but I wish it gave you more options on how it displays the info. May have to revisit it in the future updates.

A great place that shows what new changes go into the next Nightlies is this website:

http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/

Just click on the codename of your device (i.e. Evo = Supersonic, Nexus = Crespo, Galaxy S = Galaxysmtd, etc.) I always take a look at this site to see if the next nightly is worth flashing or if I can wait a while to flash.

My non-rooted droidX (Verizon) just updated the OS yesterday and now the battery life sucks.

It's all of a sudden. Was fine last week.

What the fudge?

How much battery life did you lose? Nothing on that list really stands out to me.

Sometimes it takes a few cycles before your battery gets recalibrated properly. You could attempt to do a bump charge to help it but use the technique sparingly unless you plan on purchasing a new battery a couple of times:

All instructions should be in there but you'll most likely need to install the Android SDK to get ADB access. XDA should also have stock images you can flash as well.
Thanks, that has the image I'm looking for only 78mb seems a little small but whatev. are the instructions different than doing a manual delta update?

The 78 MB seems correct for a vanilla Android ROM without the bloatware. Cyanogen ROMs are around that size and they're based off AOSP. (Which is also telling of Sense ROMs and other UIs that end up being 300+ MB.) As far as installing it, I'm not familiar with recent HTC devices but if it was anything like the past, there were many ways to do the installation. One of which is the Fastboot method which I found to be the easiest and fastest. With fastboot, you could wipe the whole device or keep certain partitions, etc. There was also the HTC RUU method but it may have changed now. The site should have instructions on how to do all of them step by step. If not, XDA should have instructions.

trying out juice defender to see if it helps with my battery cause with 4 hour and a half lectures on tuesday and thursdays, i'm like at 20% by my last lecture. Not to mention a three hour break between second and third.
Not to mention I have a 25 min walk to school which I listen to music.

Also trying different kernel things, like smartass governor, which I dont think works to well. Then will come the UV.

Smartass won't help your battery that much. In terms of battery saving:

Powersave > Conservative > Ondemand > everything else

Try out conservative and see what your results are. Ondemand is pretty good as well. Also check to see if your phone is spending more time in the higher frequencies or its balanced using CPU Spy. If its spending too much time in the higher frequencies and not in deep sleep when you're not using your phone, it means something is not closing properly.

I noticed that on CM7, the kernel that came with it actually has better battery life than the Fugu Kernel I was using in MIUI (tradeoff was the faster response time with Fugu). 3G also seems to be an issue with Samsung phones on CM7 because the RIL (Radio Interface Layer) Samsung uses isn't open sourced, amongst other things Samsung, so CM is using a hacked version. Basically, it works but it doesn't have extra battery saving features compared to the stock ROMs when 3G is on. The CM team is coming close though and it should be any time now when they get it on par. If you really want to save battery, turn off 3G and autosync when you're not using your phone. Juice defender will help greatly in that regards.

I havent used Juice Defender in a while but last time I did use it it didnt make much of a difference in battery consumption. In some cases battery life got worse

And I agree that the CM kernel was better then the other kernels out there, but I wanted the Voodoo enhancements which CM doesnt have built in.

Voodoo Color (added by Pawitp) and Sound (V10) is now incorporated into the CM kernels in the past few nightlies. There's no Gamma control but Color Profile and RGB control is there. (You may need Voodoo Control Pro to manipulate the colors.) Also, if you want to manually load Voodoo Sound, get Voodoo Control pro and as long as you have root, you can load it that way on any kernel. CM Kernels also have OC and UV built in now, so custom kernels aren't really needed any more except for extra security features for people who use their phones for IT work.

I wasn't aware of the changes. I haven't used my NS since August 24th and I haven't been keeping up on the ROM updates for it.

My Evo would keep turning off randomly when I was surfing the web or even using several Web-based apps. Even if I had 100% battery, the Evo would shut off then restart with London time, the default wallpaper, and 0 battery. I did 3 hard factory resets to no avail.

I have the TEP plan so Sprint checked it out for me and all they did was set my Advanced Task Killer to be "On" all the time. No problems the last 2 days. I also loaded JuiceDefender which has made a big difference in battery life.

Anyhow, I checked out the Epic 4G Touch when I was down at the store. It is noticeably taller than the Evo (5.1 inches compared to 4.7) and noticeably thinner and lighter. Seems more flimsy probably because of the plastic construction. It doesn't come with SD card. I didn't see a huge difference with the AMOLED screen and surfing the web wasn't dramatically quicker although I just did a cursory test. I want to go back to a QWERTY physical keyboard in the future so I think I'll just bide my time until something new catches my fancy.

most kernels for the NS have them anyway. Netarchy, or Matrix, which I'm on right now.

You don't even need juice defender, just turn off 3g/4g whenever you're not using it. Saves battery dramatically.

I sent my Nexus S in for a faulty rear speaker on August 25th. They received the phone on September 1st. On September 6th, the ticket was updated saying the phone was repaired. Then two days later, the ticket was placed on hold due to a part being on backorder (even though the phone was supposedly repaired two days prior).

I first called Samsung on September 20th to ask for an update. The representative said the ticket didn't have any updates and they opened an expedite ticket (but didn't provide me a ticket number) to get an answer from the repair center.

I called again on the 23rd. Same deal as the previous call. No update, expedite ticket opened, but no ticket number.

I called on September 27th asking for another update. No update in the ticket, but this representative actually gave me an expedite ticket number to reference.

I called today, October 3rd. Still no update on the status of the repair. I asked to be transferred to a manager. They transferred me to Executive Customer Relations. After spending 27 minutes on hold I finally got a hold of a representative by the name of Kevin. I asked how long does Samsung hold a phone in a repair status before they ship out a new unit to the customer. He told me Samsung doesn't do that since they don't stock phones at the repair facility (ok, but Im sure Samsung has other facilities that do stock phones - they are the manufacturer after all). He then put me on hold to get an update from the Dock Manager at the repair facility.

He came back after about 4 minutes on hold. He said the Dock Manager has no update from UPS as to when the shipment will arrive. I asked what part were they waiting for and he replied the rear speaker. They thought it was the wiring from the main board to the speaker and replaced that, but the phone still exhibited the same issues as when it first arrived.

I asked if - hypothetically - UPS still doesnt deliver the parts in, say, two weeks, what happens? He responded that a manager will make the decision at that point to replace the phone (but I thought Samsung doesn't replace phones??).

I asked who makes that decision to which he said a "higher up". They conveniently don't have a department name or a phone number because they don't deal with customers. He reiterated that they are waiting on UPS because they will be delivering it. He implied that UPS doesn't even have the parts in their possession yet, so who knows when they will actually be delivered.

I love my Nexus S and was seriously considering getting the Prime, but after this never-ending debacle, I highly doubt I will be purchasing another Samsung device. I'm angry at myself too, because I knew damn well that the speaker was the issue and saw replacements on eBay for under $30. I wanted to keep my warranty intact by having Samsung do the repair, which turned out to be a very bad idea.

Cliffs:
-Rear speaker died on Nexus S
-Sent in over a month ago
-Still no ETA for repair
-Samsung support is worthless

Anyone else have any issues with Samsung support?

I had the Blade and aside from it's cheap build it was pretty solid as a phone. I did note the pervasive use of plastic with the Epic Touch, while certainly lighter than the Evo the trade off may be durability.

You should try contacting your carrier to see if they can help you out, even lower your bill since you're not using the phone you signed your contract with. If they can't help, try contacting some Samsung Reps on Twitter such as:

http://twitter.com/#!/SamsungJohn

https://twitter.com/#!/samsungcarla

https://twitter.com/#!/SamsungMobileUS

I know Samsung John did/does check XDA forums. Just @mention them a message to see what they can do for you. Maybe even hook you up with a new phone. lol. Also try the Samsung Mobile Facebook page. I see them assist people on their as well.

Although Samsung uses plastic on their phones, the plastic they use are highly durable.

I did have a bad experience with their warranty process as well when I purchased my first international Galaxy S which I wrote about in this thread a couple pages back. They wouldn't cover my bricked Galaxy S even though it wasn't my fault because the phone's warranty was only good in Canada.

Long story short, an XDA member helped me get it fixed but it broke again due to the same issue and I chose to just chew up the cost. Luckily, my other international Galaxy S is still running great and holding me off from purchasing a new phone just yet...

damn that really sucks with your experience with samsung

luckily I've had no problems with my phone, and glad I dont since their customer service doesnt seem so great

They're the manufacturer how do they not have extra components laying around, especially at a repair facility?

Exactly on cue. lol. Nexus Prime with 720p display leak:

What you are seeing here is the first live photo of the Nexus Prime (or part of it), which comes to confirm several important specs of the upcoming device. First, we've got the HD resolution of the Super AMOLED confirmed - that's 720p on a screen just 4.6" in diagonal. As you can see from the image itself this gives you a pixel density of over 320 dpi, which is certainly more than anyone could need.

I guess more leaks will follow in the next couple of days. I'm hearing it'll be Verizon only though.

December 24th cannot get here fast enough!!! My Droid (the original) keeps freezing and sometimes takes a full 2 minutes to lock or to "wake up" and bring up my home screen. SO FRUSTRATING!!!!

I decided not to go the Samsung route. They may have oversaturated brighter screens and better cameras, but I can't give up build quality and support.

Here's hoping the next Nexus after Galaxy Nexus will be MotoGoogleNexus
