Still no real dip in price (BB has a $50 dollar off deal, big woop)...
I figured once the Pixel6 rumors starting floating the price would drop $100. No such luck.
I am getting close to desperate. The USB-C charging port on my Pixel2 is starting to fail, despite blowing it out, etc.

Usually I'm the same, but this time I got it through Fi since they were giving me $160 for my 3XL, where the Google Store was only going to give me $50.
My 5 wasn't delivered today
It's scheduled for delivery tomorrow now.

I've been using the 5 for about day now. Couple things:
- the smaller screen takes some getting used to. I'm ok with it now, but it may be a turn off for some. Also, I don't notice a difference with PPI. everything is just as smooth as the 3xl & 4xl.
- I wish they brought back the wide angle function on the front facing camera. They dropped it on the 4xl, but I loved it on the 3xl.
- the battery is much better, but ymmv
- it's fast, but not super fast. The increase in memory certainly helps though.
- the down firing speakers do an ok job. The speakers on the 3xl are better.
For some reason, it will not connect to hidden wifi networks. Android used to have a setting where you can select hidden ssid while adding networks, but it's not there anymore. I had to unhide the network to connect. Once I hide it again, the phone refuses to connect. So it's definitely a phone issue.
Other than that, it's not bad. I really wanted the water rating, and I wanted it in green, but if those weren't important to me, I would've just gotten the 4A 5G. It's hard to recommend the 5 at $700.

Yup, my 3XL is still rockin' it and I have no desire to change; that said, in theory at least, security patches will end sometime within the next year and that will force me into an upgrade. I'm hoping the 6 Pro turns out to be "all that" relative to the hype.
looks like apple is forcing google's hand to provide updates for a longer period of time.. (I hope)
in the beginning it was like only 2 years of guaranteed updates, now it's like closer to 4

I wouldn't hold out for price drops. I'm pretty sure they would have happened by now as they start to drop inventory levels for the P6 launch. With how short handed everything is, who knows what will happen with new phone launches this fall.
Also, the PXa models have always been a better value than the flagship models but you miss out on some things like the water resistance and the wireless charging and the better build quality. I exclusively wireless charge in my car so it's important for me to have that feature.

My 3XL is getting long in the tooth as my work phone. I will be buying the 6Pro on day one barring these leaked specs being super wrong or something. With the dual sim ability of active active that Android can run I am really hoping that the 5000mah batter in the 6pro can give 12promax like battery life. If that is the case I might even be able to go to one phone which would be awesome. Work finally started using android work containers so I feel safe with them on my personal phone.
Be aware; 12 Beta 3 has a display bug.
on occasion, unlocking the phone will render the display useless. Can't swipe up, down, left or right. unable to open apps.
I find that I have to lock the phone by pressing the power to turn off the display, then unlocking it with a fingerprint or power button+Pattern will get the display responsive again.
Since, I dont use the phone for business, I am fine with this little bug.
using a Pixel 3 small version.

maybe just affecting the pixel 3. or just me.
what I do like about the android 12 is the ambient display turns off during "bedtime", saves battery and no longer has annoying glow from ambient display while trying to sleep.

Come on September/October. Google take my money.

Depending on how good the camera is on this one (if it's a lot better than the P5) I may pick this up and dump my mirrorless Sony. I hardly use it unless I'm travelling and would be one less thing to lug around.

I am super excited about the 6 Pro. As close as we have been to iPhone hardware quality running Android I feel. Will be ordering either in 256 or 512gb white 6 Pro as soon as ordering opens up. My 3XL is struggling as my work phone so I want to replace my 4XL personal phone so it can become my work phone.
I just filled out my survey to be apart of the superfan experience.
in all honesty, i just want free chit.
I even padded out my resume by following @madebygoogle @googlepixel on both twitter and insta

well, it looks like they were passing out the surveys like candy...if all three of us got it.
i'm sure they have to sort through millions of "superfans"
i dont have fb, have any of you tried gaining access to the superfan group? or is that something you have to be invited to?
