My HTC One just arrived! Its flawless. Gaps look good and no sharp edges like people were saying. The phone feels so good in the hand and it looks really good too. Time to unlock the bootloader and install a custom Sense ROM. Lol.

Lol. I'm already running a modified stock ROM. CleanROM:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2253527

The stock ROM had so much AT&T Bloatware it hurt my eyes. CleanROM added some features like battery percentage, a bigger app launcher grid size and the quick toggles when you pull down the notification bar since it isn't running 4.2 yet. Gonna flash a kernel right now but man this phone is blazing fast right now. And Boom Sound is no joke (besides the crappy naming).

Haha nice!

But how do you know your phone will be performing better (mainly battery) without knowing what stock is like!

Because the bloatware is gone. Lol. Less stuff running in the background = less battery to eat. There were at least 6 AT&T apps pre-installed that I will never use.

I would have done the same if I bought anything with bloatware on it. Even laptops. I format that shit first thing.

haha yea thats true.

Man I honestly don't know how to choose between those two phones. A couple of my friends are asking me. The one thing the SG4 has is 4.2.2 which means proper group messaging. And I've never had it since I got my NS back, but god I don't want it to go away when I go back to my GS3.

I just tell them to go look at both in person lol

Yeah it was a tough decision for me as well...I actually wanted to take a look at both side by side at AT&T but I never got the chance. Then Amazon dropped the price of the One to $129 and that's really what determined it for me and the fact that the bootloader was easily unlockable via HTC Dev. The AT&T S4 bootloader is locked down so they can sell their Google Edition and I know there's a hack now but it becomes a cat and mice game for bootloaders whereas with the One, once you have the unlock.bin, you can unlock it forever.

I already quit that game a long time ago. The things he said was what I've experienced.

My Nexus 4 has never been rooted. What for? After I root it what is there that I MUST need? Even if I get all these jazzy custom apps/rom, I only use it to its full potential for a few days, a week max. Then I'm back to using it as a phone, text and internet browser, which does not require any fancy rooting or custom rom to accomplish.

I no longer want to waste my time flashing a rom every two weeks because the developer pushed out a "lightning fast/smooth as butter/improved battery/slimmer/etc etc" custom rom that last weeks version didn't have.

But that's just me. I just like to be headache free and not have to constantly monitor cpu usage and battery drain. Been there, done that.

Ok so it's not just me. Even after jb'ing the hell out of my iPhone 4 it was pretty unstable but I hate stock iOS thus part of the reason I jumped to Android. Hopefully iOS 7 or 8 opens it up more. As for my ICS it's better IMO and my Note 2 seems to move fairly quickly anyways. Just need to add an SD card to counter the bloatware.

Yeah, the only attractive reason to root a Nexus 4 would be for LTE on the AWS band, but by the time AWS LTE is available in more than just one or two downtown areas, we'll already be on newer phones with LTE-Advanced.

I didn't even bother to unlock my bootloader.

Just got my Verizon SG4 and loving it so far! I had 13GB of AAC encoded music in Itunes (non-DRM) and a simple "drag and drop" to the 64GB SD card on the SG4 was all it took.

Still need to rip a few CD's and been reviewing lossy formats other than AAC. Any opinions/experience/comments on WMA Pro vice AAC?

I HATED having to go through iTunes to load music on the iPhone. If there was a simpler way I must have not known at the time but wtf that shit was so annoying.

Whenever I get my SG3 fixed, I dont think I'm going to root it. I'll just get a new launcher and be done with it, or live out stock touchwiz, we'll see.

There is truth in this anyway. Although for the SG3 there are reasons to root. But I just don't want to risk another soft brick.

I suppose a rhetorical question. The phone I use most is running almost the latest version of JellyBean (SG2 Shyrocket), it's fast, battery may could be replaced, but I hate not to upgrade because ATT will still charge me the same amount and it just delays the 2 year contract (sorry for the run-on sentence).

I am not an iphone person at all, I'll leave that to my daughter. The S4 and Nexus would seem to be the logical jumps, but has anyone heard anything being released around the holiday season that would give a reason to wait a few months?

And BTW hardware is the second factor in upgrading. I take few pics, but do judge the form and feel in hand. I'm most interested in the OS. Will KLP surface on any maker this year?

Do you use FoxFi at all by chance? I am trying to figure out if it works on the Verizon S4. I can use my hotspot for free on my GN and I don't want to loose that feature but I really itching to upgrade. Never had any of my last 6 phones for more than a year and had this one for 1.5 now. Getting bored withi it.

Professor, yes and yes.

This newly released app has been getting a lot of buzz today: Duolingo https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...d=com.duolingo

Tried it out, and gotta say it really does help you learn new languages (German, Spanish, French, Portugese, or Italian for now). I like how it uses "games" to get you more interested with "levels" and "achievements". Can't hurt to always know more languages.

Motorola X phone coming out this summer!

Also I believe it may be lightly skinned and not stock android. It supposedly has features that know if its in your pocket, in your hands or in a car.

No, I don't. But according to this, it does run on Jellybean 4.2.2/Galaxy S4:

Been running the Android 4.2.2 update for the HTC One and I have to say HTC did a great job with the power toggles that Samsung managed to botch with their iteration. HTC actually put a three dot menu thing right next to the toggle so if you need to access the setting directly instead of the confusing one press or long press and hold. Lockscreen widgets are missing right now but it may be due to it not being a final build? I hope so cause I miss Dash Clock Widget. There is a way to get them but you lose the HTC Lockscreen and the Sense launcher.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2183023

Overall, I'm really loving my HTC One. Everyone I've shown my phone off to has been impressed by this phone from the build quality, screen, camera and speakers. Sense isn't as cluttered as other skins and I actually enjoy using it. My girlfriend loves the karaoke mode in HTC Music and the boom sound speakers just do a great job with all the music. I actually enjoy listening to my music with the speakers because they really are that good. I've been messing with Zoe a little but don't really use it too much. Just enjoying the low light pics I've taken with it so far. Haven't tried the slow motion video camera yet but will probably get to it one of these days.

Hmm. It edited out my comment about it. Lol. I said the only issue I had with it was that if the song wasn't in their database it won't show the lyrics. It will show the visualizer still though. But this mode + boomsound = awesomeness. The speakers are so loud I have to turn my ringtone and notification sound to the second lowest because its ridiculously loud otherwise. It scares me sometimes when I forget to lower it down and I get a notification or a phone call. Lol.

Picked up an S4. Rooted + custom recovery.

But, so far, the best thing I'v done is pick up a Spigen case. This thing is SHARP. Precise fit and finish. Best case I've bought for any cell phone I've owned.

$29 on Amazon.

Indeed, a great looking case! I'm really impressed (I like the Dante Red!!). But I need a case with good drop protection.

Not sure how much drop protection (if at all) it provides. Looking at the videos of it's construction, my guess is some, but not much

^ Could you disable them in the settings --> apps --> all section?

The new GMail update looks beautiful. They did a great job with the UI.
