thats a nice one.

I downloaded UCCW and I have no clue how to use it lol. It seems so customizable to the point where you need to do everything. Too much work lol.

Here's what i have for the time being

Well, in an interesting turn of events, I got another new phone

I went in to return the S3 this afternoon (the "storm" from yesterday closed the TMO store early), and I was fully aware, but obviously annoyed, that there is a $50 restocking fee on the phone. The rep was really nice, and the convo went like this:

Me - "I'd like to return this phone."
Him - "Whats wrong with it?"
"Its just not me, I can't get used to it."
"Ok" *types into computer for a minute or two* "You know theres a $50 restocking fee on the phone, right?"
"Yea, unfortunately"
"Sorry about that, corporate has it built into the system, I can't bypass it. Unless of course there was something wrong with the phone and you wanted something else."
"....Would we be able to, uhhh --"
"Im giving you a way out"

Long story short, I did something I didnt think I'd do and walked out with $50 in my pocket and a Nexus 4 I know that completely goes against what I said about the battery life, but I have 14 days to test it out. If it can make it through a work day, Ill be more then happy.

Anyway, off to root it and flash a new rom.

So far Im really liking the N4. Its fast as hell, the camera seems to be on par with the S3. The build quality is great too, very Apple like (). And Im a fan of the weight, it feels solid.

there are a bunch of N4's for sale in the local Craigslist, some sealed in box... which pisses me off... people like that are getting a hold of them, only to flip them for a profit. I'm just wondering if it's worth it from a Galaxy Nexus.

Well it depends how your GN is holding up.

Is it laggy?? I know you like pics, so the N4 will offer you that. As for features, you get them all so its really speed, camera, and possibly battery life worth the $350 for you. Then yes.

at times, it's a little laggy... but I'm going to pay more attention to it and see.

The camera was absolute shit when it was ICS 4.0, but has improved a LOT since the updates (I mean... it wouldn't eve focus properly in the beginning). My only gripe now is that when I do Photo Sphere... there ALWAYS seems to be one spot that will be out of focus, or NOT stitched right. Otherwise, it's not too bad.

Battery life? I bought extra batteries

So, I guess maybe not worth it... or at least not right now. If I wait a few more months, I'm pretty sure the price will come down (in Craigslist, that is).

but I must say, actually... the ONE thing that bothers me a LOT that you didn't mention is the reception. With my last phone that I had briefly (HTC Sensation), I'd get in the elevator (of my building), and would lose reception... EVERYBODY does. But the second I walk out of the elevator, before I even get into my condo, the reception is back, literally when I step out of the elevator. The Galaxy Nexus would sometimes take up to 5 minutes before it comes back, I usually just do a reboot. So, that would be my biggest complaint about my GN

I wonder if the reception issue is something that could be fixed with a radio update.

I'm jelly no Nexus 4 for us poor Sprint users.

On the upside one of my die hard Apple fan girl friends bought a Nexus 4, and now has the Note 2 (jealous again ). She loves it, and is even getting into rooting and roms... I never thought I'd see the day.

Nice pickup. Still gonna hold off and see how the Xperia Z fares. Just really annoyed that the Nexus 4 doesn't have USB OTG for some reason. I use a USB controller on my Galaxy Nexus a lot so its one of those features I need and for cases when I need a USB drive with the small internal.

Someone posted this 7" Pioneer AppRadio 2 headunit (there's also a 6.1" version) that allows you to control iOS and Android devices on the phone. Its going for $370 on Amazon. If you have root, you can do a full on mirror with an app from the Play Store. Not sure if it mirrors on the iPhone. Maybe if you jailbreak?:

Here is a demo of a Motorola phone being mirrored onto the Pioneer headunit using the ARLiberator app with steering wheel control and touchscreen on the headunit:

^Isn't it just a widget? Why can't you access the app drawer? You could reset the launcher you're using under Manage Apps.

Not sure then. Haven't messed with UCCW yet but there's probably a way to do it. If not, you could probably use one of those gesture apps to activate it or like that accessibility app that's similar to iOS devices.

Man the Carbon for Android is looking good. Looks better than Falcon Pro and that's a pretty good looking app too:

This app was supposed to be released a long time ago but wow I wish more apps looked like this. I guess eventually it'll get released?

Another question. I'm trying to take change the UCCW template i found. I wanna change the apps and for that i need the image of the icons.

I got an icon pack that i downloaded from the play store. Where would i find the images in the icon pack in my phone?? I dunno where to look and find them.

Some of those icon packs are launcher dependent. Inside the launcher, they have a theme chooser or something like that. You could technically pull the apk and unzip it, find the icon images and drag to a folder onto your phone.

Looks pretty clean. Are the templates regular PNG files? If so, you could probably open up Photoshop or GIMP and just replace the Twitter icon with the App Drawer.

hey that isnt bad at all!

You dont even notice the stich errors unless you look for them. If you just show it off its not many people would catch it.

And that camera is pretty damn good as well!

This was one of the better ones after several attempts but as you can see, the bottom right wasn't stitched right

I was playing with my friend's S3. Man it's light and huge. But in comparing to my other friend's iPhone 4s camera the newer S3 didn't shoot as nice. The 3 of us unanimously preferred the 4s shots. On the S3 all the highest settings were used and we shot in HDR. Are we just nuts or is that how it is?

No you guys aren't nuts. Both phones are pretty close when it comes to shooting photos. Why? Because they use the same exact Sony BSI sensor. The difference comes down to the algorithm software when using Auto Mode. If you played around with the settings manually you'd come up with almost the same exact photos and detail. If you read the reviews between the two phones you'll see that both have their strengths and weaknesses but its almost a tossup between the two. The S3 camera has been one of the best in the Android world and the newer phones improved on that like the Note II and One X.

Sony's Bravia Engine relates to the screen colors. It supposedly boosts the colors/contrasts notably in videos. I was under the impression that it was a placebo effect outside of the Sony phones because the display would require the necessary hardware to use it. (Not usually found outside of Sony phones) Not sure if thats changed now. Just think of it being similar to Voodoo colors but done automatically.
