^ Very true. Like I told you guys, I lost my Atrix in Vegas a few weeks ago... which had a class 10 32gb sd card in there.

I think I had my titanium back up files on the externs sd card, and thankfully I didn't back up any of my personal data sensitive apps... but it still scared me shitless and I changed all my passwords.

Placed my sim back on my Nexus. So far so good. I hope they don't do a sweep for a while. Someone on XDA said it was their fourth time getting flagged and just kept calling AT&T to bring it back to the MediaNet plan. I guess I'll keep doing the same until I get tired of it or at least until I can get to the next Nexus device. Lol.

Dan Morrill's response about the current Nexus rumors:

Reading rumor sites.... LOL.
https://plus.google.com/112413860260...ts/ikqmhF4v7a8

For those that don't know he's one of the lead Android developers. Either the rumors going around are very wrong or he's trolling.

The rumors have been going for so long. For him to say lol to them now, when one of them is being unveiled this month, just seems to me like hes trolling.

Well now JBQ is saying the same:

"LOL" indeed.

Cc: +Dan Morrill

Those days it seems like there are entire chains of posts, where one blog posts an unsubstantiated article, another re-posts it as a rumor, another re-posts it as a leak, another re-posts it as a fact, and it then gets translated into other languages where the subtlety of the attribution chain gets lost, and people take it as certainty.

Given my job, I happen to know the plan for the next release: the version number, the target release date, the hardware, the feature set, and it's really hilarious to compare that to the rumors.

https://plus.google.com/app/plus/mp/...tfbrwqmz12pghk

I'm sure some of the rumors are true. What I find amazing is how much of a secret they've kept this one. I mean no one even knows what it looks like yet and its supposed to be out soon. This is almost Apple like in secrecy. Well the old Apple anyway. Lol. The new Apple has had leaks every which way.

maybe the thing about multiple nexus devices is just false??

cause apparently modaco doesnt agree on a rumor unless he's 100%sure and he's sure about the LG nexus.

And there you have it:

We now know why Google was laughing at recent rumor reports. It was brought to our attention that the details contained in the post Rumor: Android 4.2 to feature Project Roadrunner, new Play store, Customization Center, enhanced Google Now were fake. A rumor is a rumor, but we try to post only the ones that we can verify with multiple sources and we believe to be true. I apologize for failing to confirm this rumor with multiple sources and spreading false information. While we are on the topic of rumors, we still believe the LG Nexus details to be true and we believe it will launch with Android 4.2.
http://androidandme.com/2012/10/news...ors-were-fake/

So LG as Nexus is a possibility still. The rest is all unknown.

International Note II Review from The Verge:

When first announced, the Galaxy Note II looked and felt very much like a supersized Galaxy S III with a slightly fancier stylus attached. After spending some quality time with it, I’ve come to the conclusion that that’s exactly what it is. And that’s a good, nay, a very good thing indeed. The S Pen has matured and improved in subtle but significant ways, while the GS III formula has only been upgraded with a larger battery and an even more generous screen size. At nearly 5 inches, Samsung’s flagship 2012 phone is already too big for a lot of people to comfortably use one-handed, so why should they not opt for the larger, but also more capable, Galaxy Note II?

Relative to its predecessor, the Galaxy Note II is a clear and unequivocal upgrade. It’s now more powerful, lasts even longer, and ships with the best software that Samsung has yet put on an Android device. It doesn’t feel as characterful or quirky as the original Galaxy Note, and it is indeed festooned with superfluous apps and software presets, but those are small hurdles you can either disable or avoid. The commercial success of the first Galaxy Note came as a surprise, however the same won’t be true of the Galaxy Note II. It represents the best possible marriage of the Note lineage and Samsung’s 2012 technology and is likely to cement the Korean company’s position as the premier Android device maker.

If you can handle giving up one handed usage (for the most part), it doesn't get much better than the Note II. I had lots of little issues with the Note 1, but I'd really have to struggle to find something to complain about with the Note 2. (apps2sd not working anymore sucks, but directory bind really reduces that need).

The multitasking thing is really really nice, and I can't imagine using it on a smaller phone. It's already pretty cramped on the Note, especially when you need to type too.

So actually, JB has (kind of) the ideal balance.
It has External SD, but it doesn't really allow you to put anything too 'interesting' on the external card.

What we need is a titanium excrypted backup.

Looks like Samsung has received FCC approval for the Note II (Verizon, ATT, T-Mobile).

http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/28/s...erizon-at-fcc/

Nothing for US Cellular in that article, although as noted, they already have it up for pre-order.

http://www.uscellular.com/uscellular...Id=prod1800172

It may just be an omission or an incomplete spec list, but Hotspot capability is not listed on the US Cellular page...

Franco's latest kernel for the Nexus is blazing. Love it and I'm not even overclocked. He changed some settings in the LMK (Low Memory Killer) and the phone has never been smoother even when launching Google Now. I hope he continues to develop for this phone even when the new Nexus devices come out. Each time he updates his kernel, they get better and better.

well since airdroid never worked for me, i found this other app where you can view and send texts through the browser. Also lets you do image sharing, phone locator and a spycam. But i just like it for the texting from the comp.

The rumored hardware specs seem nice. Google will be doing the software updates so that shouldn't be an issue. I like how they're keeping the curved phone motif with their Nexus line and that back is pretty cool.

yea like mike said google is handling it so LG just did hardware stuff so it will be fine.

I just hope I dont have to pay for an unlocked GSM model, rather use my upgrade for the phone.

are you talking about screen curve, or the back how the sides are curved?

Both although I'm not sure if the glass is curved again this time around. I like how the Nexus glass is curved cause it fits in the hand just right when you're using it to make calls.

the back side curves make it fit more comfortably in the hand, much better than the iPhone 4/4s. Hated holding those things. Although the 5 is so thin that you really dont even notice the square edges.

And the curve glass makes it feel nice against the face

100% agree. I like how it hugs the face and it just feels right in the hand. Its weird when I use other phones that don't have it. My bro got the iPhone 5 the other day and I used it today to make a phone call for a few minutes and did not like the feel of the edges digging into my palm.

Native Facebook app coming soon?

Remember when Mark Zuckerberg said that Facebook's HTML5 Android app was a mistake? Well, one of our tipsters, embedded deep inside the Social Network, has let us know that the native version for Google's mobile OS has entered final testing. As such, it won't be long before the software is ready for consumption by the public at large, give or take an angry Winklevii or two.

[Thanks, Anonymous]

Maybe it'll be announced with the new Nexus.

I don't believe it'll be Holo. The guy on Reddit explained that it was more of a familiarity issue for regular users who are accessing Facebook through different mediums. They wanted it to be consistent across all platforms. I wish they did a Holo UI cause the majority of the Holo apps look awesome.

Add the Cerberus.apk into the zip file before you flash the ROM. Get the apk from their website. I use the disguised version so it shows up as System Framework in the Manage Apps section:

https://www.cerberusapp.com/download.php

Open up the zip file of the ROM. DONT extract it! Drag the apk into the /system/app/ folder. Flash the ROM. The apk should be in your system/app/ folder. If anyone tries to wipe/factory reset your phone it'll be restored as is. You have to do this every time you flash a new ROM unless the ROM restores everything in the /system/app/ folder when you flash. Most ROMs don't do this.

guy makes some good points.

also from the pics it seems like they moved the headphone jack back to the top. Why!!!

You should be fine to reflash with no wipe. Don't forget to flash gapps though.

Could be an early software and hardware revision. What we're seeing probably isn't final. I hope the headphone jacks stays on the bottom as well. Its much more convenient there on my Nexus.

Google is trying to push into enterprise services and if you have a phone with a big weakness such as that, you'd never make it in there. Even JB has a Developer setting that prevents apps from accessing external SD Card info which you can tell the direction that they're going at. Sucks but that's one tradeoff I guess. Most of the OEMs that have External SD Slots hack it onto Android. I hope they start making 32 GB internals standard the next few months.
Actually, this is the official reason for not having an External SD Card slot in Nexus devices:

We got tired of seeing OEMs include many GB of internal storage for music, while users were still running out of space for apps and data. This approach lets us merge everything on one volume, which is way better.

-- Dan Morrill, Android engineer at Google
Google still supports removable storage in Android, but it is leading by example and providing phones and now a tablet with one big block of storage that users can use for anything they like -- be it media, documents, or apps. There are a couple of side benefits to this approach as well. The first one is a bit geeky -- it allows the device to use ext file systems instead of a mix of ext and FAT. This is faster and safer -- both for the data on the device and the way it's handled, and access to our own personal data. A journalized file system means fewer file errors, and ext preserves file system permissions so random code can't find your pictures or documents folder.

Another benefit is that the host machine (when your device is connected to a computer) can't muck things up and molest the file system, as it doesn't have block-level access to the files. Instead, a proxy FUSE (Filesystem in Userspace) file system is used to mount a psuedo-SD card folder so that your computer can read and write to it via MTP. This means you won't get errors from incorrectly unmounting your phone, and the device still has access to all the data even while plugged into a PC.
