Okay, I'm ready for the e-flames...but, am I the only one who thinks the issue with AP deciding to discipline his son is overblown?

Have you seen the pictures of the marks he left on his 4yr old son?

I'll admit, I thought it was overblown until I saw the pictures. They're pretty bad. I don't think he deserves to be run out of the league like some people seem to be calling for though. Wouldn't shock me if the NFL tried to overcorrect for the Ray Rice thing with AP's punishment.

This was a pretty good Sunday of football from where I sit though. The Browns finally looked like an NFL team for a full game!

Edit: Oh and dom, I'm in the same boat. I just converted one of my leagues to a keeper format this year and landed AP in the first round. Thought I had hit the jackpot! So much for that...

Sure. But, hate to say it, this sort of "whipping" is not new to disciplining of kids IMO. And from my understanding of how things are in the southern US, not uncommon.

Being raised in a strict Asian family, I've been beat pretty badly before for misbehaving or not meeting my parents' expectations.

Fucking dumbass!!!

I was raised by a southern man and got my ass worn like that, in those images. The thing that is a spanking out of ANGER, not as a punishment.

I have not spanked my son in 10 years or so, the last time was done as punishment and it worked...

btw... I have a feeling the 49er's L yesterday (a game that they had a 17 points lead at one time) will come back and bite them in the ass towards the end of the season... I can see a tight race between the 49ers and the 'Hawks (and maybe even the Cards), and they are going to go "Damn it, the Bears game was OURS!"

I don't have a problem with the switch, I have a problem with hitting hard enough/often enough where you made your child bleed.

Hindsight is always 20/20. And parity is a real thing in the NFL. The Cardinals were the one and only team to deal the Seahawks a loss at Centurylink in ~2 seasons? Nobody expected them to either.

The defense played fairly well. I wish they would get a bit more pressure, but they only sent 3-4 guys on most of the plays. There were a couple BS penalties - particularly the roughing the passer calls. They seemed to come up a lot when our defense stopped them on 3rd down

Kaepernick imploded in the 2nd half. That was ultimately why we lost.

And again, piss poor play calling in the red zone. A run up the middle 3 starlight times? Roman loses his mind in the red zone it seems. Now that he has 3 or 4 legitimately good receivers there's no excuse for that.

But yes, that loss was on Kaepernick doing his best Tony Romo impersonation. But Cutler having all day to throw didn't help either.

Well, the scouting report on Chicago was that their run-D was still putrid. So, who knew they actually showed up last night to stop the run when it counted?

But, SF's stupid penalties on 3rd down were back-breaking...you'd think they were coached by Jim Schwartz.

And as for Cutler, like most QBs, if he has that much time, he'll deliver good throws. It was refreshing to see...at least for a Bears fan that has not had the luxury to see what QB protection is.

Imagine if Tom Brady actually had to run for his life regularly, you think he'd be that good?

That guy has enough time to read an entire novel from cover to cover.

I did at the bad-word penalty called on Kap though.

Yes, the NFL allows wife-beaters to play but don't allow swearing. Yup.

I almost forgot about the 16 penalties for 120 something yards. While some of them were terrible calls, the Bears also got 2 bad breaks. The early Tillman INT that looked good was was called back as was a 3rd and long reception by Bennett.

Overall, officiating in the game was not great. The first TD the 9ers had? The play clock had run to zero...should've been a delay of game penalty.

Yup, forgot about that one. I was shocked too because that never happens to Kap. His clock management is the best in the league.

Just saw the pics - I'd mark myself up like that just playing outside in the woods. They were a lot less severe than I was expecting based on how everyone is going on about it. That said, breaking the skin like that as "punishment" crosses the line (as a parent). I've spanked my kids, but never left a mark. The point of corporal punishment is disapproval, not pain. Certainly not marks like that.

However I think the Vikings are doing the right thing by letting the courts play this out and go from there. I don't think the NFL should be in the business of acting as judge and jury in place of a real judge and jury. In the end I bet Peterson gets some kind of probation and counseling.

As for the Hawks I'm not too bent that they lost. In fact, I think the Chargers showed them something that they need to work on and fix. Better to learn that lesson now early in the season IMO. Losses teach you things that victories can't. So long as you can learn from them, you'll be a better team. Always good to get a reminder you are not invincible. Just so long as you're not learning lessons week after week.

Oh and so much for my fantasy QB (RGIII). I wasn't hot on him to begin with but he was best available. I have three QBs on my roster and David Carr was the best of them last week. That says a lot. Time to regroup.

Waiver wire is STACKED this week. Fortunately I had the foresight of drafting Knile Davis in one league. Donald Brown I want since I have Ryan Matthews on the bench.
