I thought it was you become honorary mod when your team wins a championship. Isn't that you how got the job.
Seriously, this is the 05-06 thread. We have 06-07 thread for all the other sports. Why not bball?

man i sure hope this'll be the year for the lakers. if kobe can really shine and his teammates cooperate with him i think they'll be a dominating team. i am still a huge nets fan, but kidd and carter are showing their age... hopefully some of their teammates will be able to step up bigtime and they'll still be a team to contend with. i think that we'll see a great year from the nuggets, especially from melo who i think progressed quite a bit during his time in the WIBA championship... and of course from wade, who i think can surpass kobe sooner than later
this should be a good year for NBA. also IMO detroit has been de-fanged. brown may be back but... they also had some big losses in their team chemistry. wallace will be hard to replace
anyone buying league pass? im gonna put in my order anyday now

I did that. Thus my post above about the Heat defending the title. It got merged. I understand they want to maintain cleanliness in the forum but isn't that why they opened the sports forum. I don't mean to be a PITA. I'm a senior mod somewhere else. And I welcome constructive criticism. I've had some ideas that I flat out refused but then read counterpoints and changed my vote. Props to the AZ Mods.

i've only liked the heat since they had diesel, but this bulls team is going to be SERIOUS this year

I love going back to read posts like this. The "donut" offense just beat the defending champions by 42. I know it's just the first game, but 42 points at home??? And that's with Gordon (bulls' best scorer) going 1 for 9.

You keep saying he's an inside presence but you guys will still have a donut offense. At least Chandler can score but Ben obviously can't. If you get PJ Brown to start at PF in that Chandler trade or inconsistent Deng then that's not enough to keep defenses honest.

I think he's worth it. And you may laugh, but I see some Steve Nash in him...and I think he can reach that potential one day.

We're not "judging the season," but according to you, the Bulls don't have a chance against Miami, and then they blow them out by 42 points on their home court I don't care what game it is, if they can blow them out by 42 points, you can't say that can't beat them in the playoffs. We're talking about professional basketball here, not a high school game.
Losing to Orlando (especially on their court) can happen to any team. That has nothing to do with the fact that the Bulls can handle Miami. You're getting a little off topic here. I thought we were discussing how O'Neal (7 points) owns Ben Wallace... I guess PJ Brown was a little too much for him then? Or was it that block by the rookie Tyrus Thomas?
I hope you don't really believe that the Heat with a rusty O'Neal will win another championship. They looked like a bunch of old guys waiting for retirement. Heck, even the Cavaliers have a better chance of winning this year. Did you see those dirty plays by Payton and Posey against the Bulls' 2nd and 3rd stringers?
The Bulls didn't have the intensity last night against Orlando, but they still managed to lose by "only" (relatively speaking) 15 points.
