I was at the game tonight, hell of a comeback by the Celtics. If only they didn't start out so slow. Hopefully they can play with that same intensity for the rest of the series...

Great atmosphere and the house was rocking during that comeback...

On a side note, just something I observed with Dwight Howard. After the game he gave and interview and I wanted to get a closer view with my friend who may have been the only Magic fan in the building. After the interview he was shaking hands, signing autographs and then not only gives away his jersey, but also each of his shoes. At first I was wonder what he was doing, stretching in the crowd, then I realized we was taking off his sneakers and signing them. I wouldn't have been as surprised if he did it in Orlando, but did it in Boston. He really is a class act...

I will try to post some pictures later this week...

Everytime the Lakers lose, it's an off night? Wow, I guess it really was an off night....most of their shots were off. That's why they lost!

Yao dominated that game. Whoever said bynum could hold Yao, nice call! Brooks killed old man fisher, gasol and odom were garbage, the Rockets looked like a team who came to LA to win. The Lakers looked sluggish, (probably due to the layoff)

Rockets in 6.

eh, it's only one game. lakers played as bad as they could, and we had to play as well as we could. let's not get too carried away.

i think game 1 did show that there are mismatches on both teams. i expect LA to play MUCH better in game 2.

kobe's still gonna have to work for his points with battier and artest guarding him. i expect to see more of farmar. gasol and odom won't be this bad.

At least its a series. You Rocket guys were right, at least for 1 game.

as for Bynum, I never thought he could hold Yao. He could do a good job against him, but he needs to relearn how to not get so many fouls. This isn't the midseason Bynum, this is off a serious injury, playoff virgin Bynum.

Anyways, I'm of the opinion that you need to make Yao run....Gasol and Lamar do that better. The reason I'm not worried is we were down 3 in each of the first 3 quarters and Laker shooting was just plain off....credit to the Rocket defense.

Again, hope you true rocket fans don't see that as arrogant. I just feel the Lakers have played better in the past. That says nothing about how well the Rockets played. Hopefully you guys see the Lakers best sometime in this series.

i think gasol gave yao more problems because of his quickness and movement.

like i said before, houston played as well as they can, and LA played as bad as the could. i don't expect them to play that badly too many times in this series.

Houston did not play as well as they could.. The rockets had 18 turnovers. Defensively, they may have played as well as they could, but offensively, they brought their B game. The lakers played terrible. We all agree on that. Obvisiouly, they wont continue to play like that (I hope they do). But I'll take the win in game 1 and hope the rockets can win all three games in Houston.

Well like most true NBA fans this season, regardless of whoever you're routing for, a Finals matchup between the Cavs and Lakers would be a great series. Two of the best duking it out is always a great series. The Lakers were off last night, but I expect a stronger showing from them in game two. The Rockets just showed that they weren't here to get run over like the Jazz did! Making a run for the championship doesn't mean all other teams will just give you their series leading to it.

Either way, this is gonna be a pretty good series. Maybe not quite Celtics-Bulls, but not a boring, onesided series either.
I'm a Rockets fan, of course, but I would also like to see a Cavs-Lakers Finals. Now if
T-mac were healthy and contributing to the team's success, I would have to route for a Rockets Finals matchup.

Rockets in 6.
I say Lakers in 6. I agree with most of that (obviously not the last part). To be honest, in the beginning I thought both teams looked mighty rusty.

Looking forward to wednesday.

The Lakers have no answer for Brooks he can blow by their guards at will. The Lakers have a big problem here. The Rockets play good defense are physical and are deep. We can live with Kobe being a jump shooter we just don't want him driving to the basket. To be honest I think the Lakers and their fans underestimated the Rockets who could have been the 2 seed if they had won their last game. Also even though the Lakers were 4-0 against us this season all the games were close going into the 4th where we feel apart down the stretch. Rockets in 6.

Correction: the media underestimated the Rockets. I think most of us that were being realistic thought Portland and Houston had enough size to counter what the Lakers brought.

Although you have to wonder why that is....there are alot of ex-Rockets in prominent speaking roles. JVG, The Jet, Barkley, Jon Barry (not a rocket, but his bro is on the team, so I think he has a rooting interest).

Who have we got on TV?

Magic.

Greatest PG ever, great business man, but the Magic Hour failed for a reason.

JVG is the only one on that list that really gave us a chance. He predicted we would beat the Blazers and win game 1 against the Lakers.

At the beginning of the year though, Jet said Rocks would come outta the west. That changed through the course of the year and the 4-0 season series.

Hat's off to JVG though, he's pretty loyal to Yao and the guys he coached.

Last night was not the Lakers we normally are accustomed to see. Rockets, i'll give you credit, you did well, but we will take this series. We have too much riding on this year than you guys.
Some things we need to fix:
sit fisher and play shannon brown and farmar to keep up with the speed of the backcourt if houston goes small
let gasol start off against yao and tire him out, then bring in bynum on yao when yao is fatigued.
find lamar odom and bring him to staples. make him show up. it's a fucking contract year. play like it.
hustle like ariza did last night
let kobe get his and give him reason to trust his teammates.

Lakers in 5 or 6. it just isn't houston's year.

Agree with all, but not the Farmar thing. Still think ShanWow would be better because he's somewhat big and strong enough to switch if he gets caught behind screens. Brooks is good (watched him absolutely tear up the Pac-10), but like in the Portland series, he becomes less effective later in the series. We might be able to make him a liability on defense since anyone can post him up if we stay big on the perimeter (Shannon, Kobe, Walton).

Still it goes w/o saying, much respect to the Rockets though....they showed up, got it done in Game 1.

The Rockets played pretty well last night, and I wouldn't take that away from them at all. BUT let's keep it real - the Lakers are the better team and are going to win this series. I don't think the Lakers underestimated the Rockets at all. I just think they're rusty and of course Kobe was sick... and the Rockets played well enough to beat them. Lakers in 6.
