i'm interested to see what the magic will do in the offseason with hedo's contract up and the salary cap probably going down. i think everyone would like to see this team stay intact but i don't know if that's possible money wise.

one of those espn articles was saying this lakers team could stay intact if ariza and odom both resigned for a total of 11 million.......yea..........right. it reminds me of when turiaf left. the lakers sure could use an enforcer type of player like him but there's only so much salary to go around.

at JVG.

"and what is friday?"

JVG is becoming one of my most favorite announcers. he kicks knowledge, tells it like it is, and has a sense of humor. and he's not a kobe nut-hugger like mark jackson

i give props to Orlando for coming thru but it was mostly Alston's game..if it wasnt for his points Orlando wouldn't of had the momentum they did...he really came thru and hopefully keeps it up for the Series....and Kobe missing all them free throws really didnt help shit either...but im still a Lakers fan though.

Exciting game to the buzzer. Kobe single handedly kept the Lakers alive during the first half, then pretty much single handedly lost it for LA at the end of the 4th. I've never seen him shoot FTs so poorly and his turnovers were very costly, especially when D12 stripped him.

I was astounded at the accuracy of Orlando during the first half. 76% To finish at 62% for the game is a testament to the accuracy of Orlando and to have 5 players score 18 or more points is retarded.

Skip To My Lou is back, enough said.

When Pietrus came in from the corner and got the offensive board for the dunk I literally jumped out of my seat.

I'm glad it's not going to be 4 and out for LA. It will be interesting to see how they, and Kobe in particular, respond.

when the magic shoot 62% and can barely hang on to win that's not good for them. i think like last years finals, it really felt like the lakers struggled to win their 2 games and that's how the magic look right now.

Yeah nobody's winning when the opposing team is shooting 62%. That's insane. Phil must've been pissed.

Still can't get over the magic's shooting % the other night...tonight the Lakers need to win if they want to win the series..but the 2/3/2 format will destroy Orlando if the Lakers win another game in Orlando..which they will

i was never a fan of the 2/3/2 format.

i understand its purpose, but it blows. it's damn near impossible to win 3 games in a row if you drop the first two.

after 3 rounds of 2/2/1/1/1, i'd like to see it stay that way in the finals.

Well, I guess that is why teams work so hard to have a good record, and hopefully better record than their opponent in the finals. Sort of the reward by getting your first two and last two games at home. So from that angle, it makes sense.

With 82 games, you wonder if that is top of mind during the season, but I'm sure the Lakers are really glad there is a 2/3/2 format in case some shiz goes downhill tonight and in Game 5

i think 2/3/2 format is good since you do not have to travel back and forth as much. It gives you mroe rest than 2/2/1/1/1.

I've never liked 2-3-2. These guys have private charters, have days between games, etc.

I could understand if they have to fly coach, deal with baggage claim, and have to get up for an 8am presentation, but their games are at night, their shoot arounds aren't til about 11 or noon, they can get pre-game treatment for whatever ails them, and they still get per diem on their road trips. Nothing comes out of their pockets.

2-2-1-1-1 is a more even distribution of games.

GO LAKERS!

besides, they have 2 days of rest in between games 1/2 and 4/5 so that they can have games televised on sunday nights, which is a better tv night than saturdays.

I think last year's outcome could have turned out different if suppose, the Lakers had home court advantage. So, in a sense, it IS about the reward for finishing the season with the better record

yea homecourt advantage is the reward.

but all of the other rounds are 2/2/1/1/1. the team with the better record still gets rewarded with the first two at home and game 7.

i just think it's stupid to reward the team even more with a 2/3/2 format.

i know the reasoning is traveling back and forth, but as carbongray earl said, they get the rest and preparations that are needed. besides, how often does a team from one coast play a team from the other?

i believe the history of the 2/3/2 format for travel reasons is not for the teams but for the convenience of the media, both for reporters and for the setup of the game on tv. of course, it originated in 1985 so travelling was probably not as fast and easy as it is today. i remember when my dad used to smoke on airplanes back then heheheh.
