Unidentified Player: Lakers Paid $50k For Game 5 Win

May 28, 2009 10:32 AM EST
Phil Jackson and the Lakers were fined $25k apiece as a punishment for his comments regarding the officiating in Game 4.
At least one member of the Nuggets believed those comments factored into how Game 5 was called.
"The Lakers paid $50,000 to win that game. They got their money's worth," said a Denver player, not wanting to be identified for fear of retribution from the league.
haha what a pussy
be a man and say who you were
Kenyon Martin or Dahntay Jones is my guess

Those 3's have been killing the Cavs all series. Every they they get a good lead, they blow it. They were up by 11 when I started watching tonight, now they are only up by 1.

EDIT: Just heard they were up by as much as 22.

Lebron FINALLY gets help from his team. Cavs should have this one in the bag now. Game 6 is probably going to be the toughest game in James' career.

BTW, that piece of hair hanging from Ben Wallace's chin is so damned annoying, I just want to climb through the TV and cut that shit off.

They sure did, I still think Orlando has a good chance in taking the series in game 6 unless the refs screw them.

i think so too. but they seriously need to start playing 48 minuts of basketball. chasing 20 point deficits is fun, but they're not gonna be able to do that every night.

I just don't think Lebron can continue to have the nights he has been having, and as we saw last night when his team helps out, the game goes a little easier. Macig will win game 6 at home tomorrow night, Magic and Lakers should be an interesting match up. Best big man in the game vs. arguably the best player in the game. Personally I'm ready for all of this to be over so we can start talking drafts and trades. Should be some interesting moves this off season for teams getting ready for the summer of 2010 free agent fiasco.

Damn cavs almost blew a 22 point lead. Magic are so streaky but LBJ finally got help from his friends. Williams had a good 2nd half. I still predict Magic in 6

Mike Brown couldn't coach a Pee-Wee league team. Offensive matchups are killing the Cavs. LeBron has been MVP like so far, but at this rate he'll retire at 27! Cleveland needs more help. LeBron can only cover one player at a time and it never seems to be the one who is hitting the 3's.

Almost forgot, love him or hate him, Kobe is hands down the best closer, best finisher, most complete player in the league since that other 23 was around.

yep, but that's their game, when they hit those jumpers/3's consistently, they are nearly impossible to beat, when they don't, they lose. It's a dangerous way to play the game, but its been working well for them until last night. And lets not forget how they almost blew the series against Philly because their jumpers weren't falling.

Game 6 is a must win for Orlando as much as it is for Cleveland. Im curious to see how they come out tommorrow night.

yea i know it's their game. it's one thing to to live and die by the 3 if it's lewis, turkogly, and even pietrus. but skip got way too trigger happy after game 4.

congrats to the lakers. saw bits and pieces of the game since i was at a restaurant. they finally showed up these last two games.

and congrats to the nuggets as well. it's gotta suck to go out this way, but they've got a really good thing going on over there. and to the denver crowd for giving the nuggets an ovation.

^^^ I was quite suprised how nuggets fans were loyal to their team.

Lakers played really well tonight! When Denver had something going, lakers would answer right back....

Denver! Next year.

Love or hate him, Kobe has some serious skills. The only difference between him and the original baller (Jordan), he talks too much (by mouth and cocky attitude). He should just let his skills speak for itself like the old #23 did and the current MVP 23! I'm not a fan of Bryant, but I respect his game.

On the other hand, I think the magic would give the Lakers more of a run for the trophy. LeBron needs his teammates to chip in and take some of the load off his shoulders. Whichever team wins in the east, it's gonna be a good finals.

what happened to wally?

dude went from being a 20ppg scorer to falling off a cliff. i know he had big holes in his game, but you'd think cleveland would be a great fit and situation for him.
