12 year old Magic fan's dad demands an apology from Big Baby

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4159699

I wonder if he would have been saying the same thing had the Magic hit the game winner and a Magic player ran into his kid.... Some people

If any of you saw the Boston-Orlando game last night, then you saw how after Glen Davis drained the game winner, he runs down the court and accidently runs into some kid. Apparantly that kid's dad is not happy, and "demands" and apology from Davis calling him an "raging animal". I say if you have court side seats, then you accept the risk of having these players run into you or land on you on occasion; so don't bitch and complain when it happens.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The father of the 12-year-old boy bumped by Celtics big man Glen "Big Baby" Davis after Sunday's game-winning shot is demanding an apology.

Ernest Provetti told the Orlando Sentinel that he wrote the NBA office demanding an apology from Davis for acting like a "raging animal with no regard for fans' personal safety." NBA spokesman Tim Frank confirmed the league received the e-mail but declined to comment on it.

Video of the play shows Davis ducking behind a referee and stepping out of bounds as he ran back to the Celtics bench. Provetti told the paper it was his son, Nicholas, whose hat fell off as Davis bumped him.

Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss said Davis was not available for comment. The Magic also declined to comment.

You read my mind.

Seriously, if I was Big Baby, I'd have probably given the kid a jersey or something after seeing the replay. But asking for an apology is kind of douchy. It sounds like sour grapes. What do you expect sitting in floor seats.

Wow, that Mavs actually managed to not get swept. But no need, I expect Denver to finish them off in game 5

what do you expect?

if it was an orlando player that made a game winning shot and ran down the sidelines and pushed that kid, the father wouldn't be complaining.

man that dad just wants to get his 15min. like DOOM878 said if you sit courtside what do you expect plus if you look at the tape the only reason why he even ran into the kid is because he was tryin to avoid the Ref that stepped in his way.. tell the dad quit crying

I just wanted them to win at least one game I knew they weren't going to win the series. I was just glad they finally made it out of the first round for once.

Inadvertent bump by a 300lb basketball player in the heat of the moment…get over it, you're on the sideline!

Personally, I think the kid flopped

kid's dad deserves to be slapped.

get over it. if it was an orlando player, he wouldn't be saying anything.

dan patrick, this morning, was saying "it's not like the kid had a cup of beer and it spilled over. that would get me mad."

Update...

The Orlando Magic fan demanding an apology from Glen "Big Baby" Davis says he reacted emotionally and will back off.

He said neither Boston or the NBA has responded. And he won't be waiting around for that call.

"In the scheme of things, I still think he shouldn't have went on the sideline, but obviously nothing is going to come of it," Provetti said. "And it's better to forget about it and not incite it anymore."

He planned on going to Boston for Game 7, but thinks otherwise since his facebook was flooded with nasty e-mails on Monday.
smart move ...i think he got a lot of flak for that "raging animal" comment

You'd better believe their backgrounds made them the leaders they are today. Battier is the product of a two-parent household, a private high school and four years of college among the trees at Duke. Artest grew up in Queensbridge in New York City, in a home split apart by domestic violence, and he went to school on the urban campus of St. John's.

speaking of battier, now i've always respected his game even though i hated him in college since i was one of those duke-haters. but since he's been in the league and especially in houston, i've admired his willingness to be guard the opposition's best player, be a role player, and hustle.

but what's up with the ridges in the guy's head?!

dude's head looks like this:

just got through reading his wiki page. interesting stuff.

definitely one of those guys every team needs to have to win.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shane_Battier

Battier: "Chris Webber won three state championships, the Mr. Basketball Award and the Naismith Award. I won three state championships, Mr. Basketball and the Naismith Awards. All the things they said I wasn’t able to do, when I was in the eighth grade."
Lewis: “Who’s they?”

Battier: “Pretty much everyone.”

Lewis: “White people?”

Battier: “No. The street."[
The Rockets currently oblige him in that regard by making him the team's only player with access to a huge amount of highly sophisticated statistical data that they compile on all opposing players; he uses this data to familiarize himself with the tendencies of the players he will guard in each game.[1] His team-oriented approach is also illustrated by one game between the Rockets and San Antonio Spurs in the 2007–08 season in which he was assigned to guard Manu Ginóbili. Because Ginóbili generally plays off the bench, his minutes are not in sync with those of typical NBA starters. Before the game, Battier went to Rockets coach Rick Adelman and asked to be kept out of the starting lineup and substituted in whenever Ginóbili entered the game.
Battier's most recent life achievement is earning the title "The Kobe Stopper" as one of the best defenders of Kobe Bryant. His approach to guarding Bryant is based on his own analysis of Bryant's tendencies, combined with the Rockets' statistical analysis. For example, the Rockets have determined that Bryant is noticeably more effective when driving to his right as opposed to his left, shooting immediately off a pass instead of shooting off the dribble, and getting on the baseline or in the paint as opposed to other locations on the court. Battier then seeks to encourage Bryant to operate in zones where he has proven to be statistically less effective; in some games, his defense on Bryant has actually made the Lakers' offense worse from a statistical standpoint than if Bryant were not playing at all.[

dude's head looks like this:
Cutis verticis gyrata (CVG) is a term that refers to a pattern of redundant skin on the scalp that exhibits deep furrows and convolutions [1]. The hypertrophy and folding of the skin produces a gyrate appearance. The deep lines in the scalp typically are in an anteroposterior direction but may also be in a horizontal direction.

Looks like we have quite a few rockets fans here ... LOL i was very happy/surprised that they pulled out a W on Sunday and forced this into a series after T-Mac, D & Yao all went down with injuries .... almost started reciting Rudy's heart of champion line ... LMAO ...

Now it doesn't matter what's the final outcome of this series, it will build plenty of momentum for next season ...

Looks like Houston is going down tonight ... Lakers did what Rockets did to them in the first quarter .... but IMO Rockets has more hearts ... so I'm going to go out on a limp & say the Rockets will make a comeback ...... I know I know... NBA won't allow that to happen ..... LOL

We shall find out in the second half .....
