Was at the Giants game last night. Would have probably enjoyed myself more if I was there for Monday's game instead.

It was a close one to call. If I was the home plate umpire I would shit myself making that call.

Looked like he held up to me. Fox just had to interrupt the Yankees spanking the redsox in another redsox collapse where they lead 9-1 & then 9-8 after the inning. Damn fox.

As much as I hate the redxox, it's way to early to count them out.
If you go by the early numbers so far the AL east is going to be a nail biter all season.

^ I agree. It is 162 game marathon not a 20 game sprint.

Looking at the AL east now, how long do you see Baltimore on top?

I think that eventually Baltimore will be a contender, but they have a habit of storming out of the gate and falling on their face a month in.

I hope that Pettite comes back true to form. Losing Pineda for the season hurts. Especially when Hughes is still in the rotation

Fuck off

You could say he hurt his knee. Doctors say he tore his ACL and partially tore his meniscus.

http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news/...s_nyy&c_id=nyy

Hes gone for the season most likely, and at 42, especially considering the hints he gave during Spring Training, I think hes going to call it quits.

I think Mo should call it quits. You can't have asked for a better career than the one he had. He is probably one of the class acts in baseball. I cannot imagine him wanting to come back and do it half-assed.

Unfortunately it looks like he will retire.

It's just a shame it is because of this.

I really feel bad for him.

on the last two posts.

When reporters talked to him last night, he was almost in tears (from what I read). He looked just as good as ever this season. So maybe he'll see what happens during rehab? Id love to see him get a proper farewell at Yankee stadium, and not leave the game injured.

Now who do the Yankees turn to close? Honestly, Id trust Robertson over Soriano. Ive always thought they were grooming him to be the next closer anyway.

And the questions that loom are why was in doing what he was doing, & why did it blow his knee out. Seems to me that it was on it's way out already to get that type of injury.
It's going to suck bigtime for the Yankees, him, & fans.

From what everyone has said (and I remember it being mentioned in the past as well), he usually catches fly balls in the outfield during practice. Its one of his regimens.

But I will agree, its a bit of a big injury just from landing on his leg wrong. So who knows if it was preexisting.

Ok, yeah I read that is was part of his regimen.... I don't remember him doing it at the games I been to though.

Would be great if the Yankees rallied just for Mo & won it all, but that only happens in movies.

They almost rallied last night but fell short. Its still too early in the year to worry about offense, but the rotation and now Rivera really have me worried.

Cole Hamels, first you intentionally hit a 19 yr old with a pitch, couple batters later, you worry about a runner on first, when there's a runner on third (something you learn in little league, NOT to do). SO that 19 yr old runner, fastest kid on the field steals home.

Then you brag that you did it on purpose Sure, you won the game, your team went 1-2 in the series. But now your ass is sitting for five games without pay.

I understand the whole no pay thing, but as far as missing play, he is only "sitting" for one day as they push his start back.

I believe it should be longer, (miss a couple starts) and I'm glad to hear some MLB managers come out and say the same thing.

He is a douche but it made things a little more interesting. His reasoning about keeping it "old school" is full on retard mode.

Very stupid of him to make to the statement. It does no good for anyone and hurts his team. Everyone and their mothers knew he did it on purpose. Absolutely no need to confess to it. Should have just said it got away.

As far as hitting Harper? Its happened before, and it'll happen again. I don't think it's that big of a deal. I'm sure the likes of A-Rod/Longoria/etc have been beaned a few times early in their careers. Harper handled it well; stretch it out, go to 1st and move on.
