Look at it this way. What if MLB was made up of 3 teams, all in NY? The Yankees, the Mets and a hypothetical team called the Razors. If the Mets and Razors made it to the world series, would it be acceptable to root for one of the other teams because they are from NY? What about when teams from the same state make it, say if the Dodgers and Angels both made it to the WS, would the state explode over who to root for? This isn't jealousy or a bitterness thing. It's a I want my team to win and want other teams to lose. It's the nature of sports, of any game. That fire burns even hotter for a team that is in the same market as mine. I want them to lose even more because it makes my team look better.

That and their self righteous attitudes, that doesn't help.
I'm born and raised New Yorker. I was born a Yankee fan and I will be a Yankee fan when their not winning. But let's say the Mets are in the World Series, but Yanks are not, I want the New York team to win. I feel that's how it should always be. You really wanted the PHILLIES to win being a New Yorker? Seems weird to me. If a hypothetical happened where 2 New York teams are in, well I'd have to make that decision if it ever happened.

On a side note, I attended Game 6... what a moment to experience. Place was a MOB scene!

I'm born and raised in Philly and I ride with the home team in all sports. Besides people that relocate from other states, I can't how people root for an out of state team. I'm a homer til the end...

I agree with both of you, I hate the Islanders but would root for them in the Cup series after the Rangers were eliminated.

I did not know it was a quote.

Doubtful that a Yankee would publicly say that but not due to a lack of balls. I don't think anyone from the team would say it because management prefers they exude a professional persona.

They have all sorts of rules (no facial hair, tattoos, etc)

Look at the change in Damon's appearance between leaving Boston & going to N.Y.

It was a joke, geez...lol

Every team's management want their players to exude professional persona. The facial hair and tattoos thing is kinda excessive...Wait, doesn't Swisher have some tats?

Sorry hard to tell what is a joke on the net, I was not upset, just responding.

Burnett is the only one whose tats I have noticed (arms) I am sure many have them, they just are told not to display them.

Guess it comes down to the boss has rules, no one signs with them without knowing what the rules are, I bet there are players (M-Ram?) that would not consider going to them (thank god) no way he cuts off his dreads.
