Toronto Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf and actress Elisha Cuthbert were engaged over the weekend, according to multiple media reports.
US Weekly reported the couple made the announcement and celebrated with a party in Prince Edward Island.
Phaneuf, 27, played for the Calgary Flames from 2005-10, before he was traded to Toronto.
Cuthbert, 29, is a native of the Alberta city. She is best known for her role on the TV series "24" and currently is among the cast of the sitcom "Happy Endings."
The couple has been dating since 2008.

Who knew way back when that Avery was spot on with his crass but accurate commentary? Sounds like she had a hard-on to reel in some NHL man meat and succeeded. Hopefully a happy ending for all.
And domcha, what's up with your wacky GTA housing market? My best man just got an unsolicited 200k+ premium offer for his house from a colleague after only two years of buying.
Spent the extended holiday weekend at Canada's Wonderland, the Zoo and Centre Island with the munchkins. Good times.
With the lockout looming, I'm just excited to read 1000 more pages of yummy cakes sploofs and Moog's adventures in cup ownage for the next year and a half.

From the article I read today he was apparently the first European captain in his Canadian Junior league and also has been living on his own since age 16. He is extremely well spoken and when I have seen him interviewed you think it is someone more around the age of 25 or with several years in the NHL rather than a rookie. I think it is a lot to put on his shoulders but I think he is one the the few that could handle it from what I saw watching of him last year.

Kings are finally going to "get with the program" and hang their Stanley Cup Champions banner from the rafter, rather than hanging them on the wall.
Word is that not only the SCC banner will be hanging, but past winning banners and retired jerseys will now migrate from the wall and will hang from the rafters.
No word on if Lakers banners will be moved, nor if their fans will riot and burn the city if the Lakers banners and jerseys are moved.
...but chances are strong they will riot.

My outlandish prediction is your p'whoring will be ramped down considerably after Mrs. Yummy delivers mini-cake.
Think I can speak for most of us here in hockey talk that we're still shocked that you were able to score on an empty net.

Doughty just informed me that it looks like his stay will be indefinite since there are no plans for NHL hockey this year. I'm hoping I can use the time to convince him to demand a trade to the Leafs.
Ask Eklund...I believe there's a trade in the air where the Kings are willing to trade their entire roster to the Leaves.
