I dunno how I feel yet about Richards.

Sad to see little Schenn not in Toronto. I always believed he's somehow end up a Leaf.

I do love Richards long term low cap hit.....it will be fantastic under the upcoming CBA.
Deano has a great way of dealing with the $$$$.
I do think more is coming in terms of the Kings making deals.

Tick-tock on the Smyth gets bought out/traded away for cap space watch.

Doughty and Simmonds were very close buddies and housemates........Doughty and the Kings are currently under serious contract negotiations......

Philly was in some serious contract/salary trouble!!!
Part of the Richards deal has the Kings getting RFA Rob Bordson who played in the AHL last year. Philly already had a maximum number of contracts on the books, so they shipped him/his rights to L.A.
Kings have no intention of signing him...thus he won't be Kings property in a few days.

MINNEAPOLIS -- The first draft pick made by Winnipeg's NHL team will be handed a sweater with the league's black and grey colours, according to assistant general manager Craig Heisinger.
Speculation has swirled about what the new team will be called since a return to the city was announced on May 31.
The Winnipeg team is scheduled to pick seventh overall in Friday's draft.
Even though the player will be a given a NHL sweater, it still remains possible the Winnipeg franchise will announce its team name over the weekend.
Heisinger called the last few weeks a blur, but says the staff is ready for the draft.
He refused to comment on reports that Claude Noel will become the team's new head coach.

There's no way they would call the team anything other than the Jets....right?

Waldorf must be heartbroken...his beloved Mini-Schenn got traded.
They aren't the Jets, they are the Thrashers. The Jets are in Phoenix.

Still wondering if there was a leadership issue with Mike Richards...hence why he was traded. Maybe with Pronger...?

Regehr Headed to Sabres...?
From TSN...
Sources say Robyn Regehr has been asked to waive his no-move clause and accept a trade to the Buffalo Sabres.
Regehr was contacted by the Flames on Wednesday, and there is no time frame as to when the Sabres need an answer from the defenceman.
The 31-year-old defenceman had two goals and 15 assists in 79 games played for the Calgary Flames last season and finished with a plus-two rating.
Regehr has two years remaining on his contract that has a cap hit of 4.02 million each year.
According to capgeek.com, the Flames have over $57 million committed to salaries for the 2011-12 season, and dealing Regehr would help in that respect.
Regehr has been a member of the Flames since breaking into the NHL in 1999 and had a career best six goals and 26 points in the 2005-06 season.
He was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche 19th overall in the 1998 Entry Draft.
More details to follow.

NHL owns the Jets name and has said they'd have no problem with this new team using it. As much as I think it should be Jets I don't think it will be. Money talks, jersey sales needed.

I am told to look out early tomorrow morning....the Leafs may pull the trigger on one of the biggest deals the team has ever seen. "Bigger than Phaneuf. Way bigger." I was told. The names to look for Parise, Stamkos, andbelieve it or not... Eric Staal.

Trolling Canuckistan
So did you have the poor pup half neutered?

Now all we have to do is get the Penguins moved to the western conference during the reallignment and the cheap shots can all happen somewhere else.

So, Mike Richards' cap hit is $5.75 million on a contract that goes through 2019-2020.
Isn't this the sort of cap hell Waldorf rants about...?

Says the guy whose team got away with how many dirty hits this year, without suspensions, um broken neck? Don't make me count out the blindsides that Mr. Campbell wouldn't punish his son's team for either, that could take days

...and esp. a team as storied as the Flyers. Not sure if that led to his ultimate departure...

Personally, I think Carter may be a better fit for LA...Richards kinda seems like a Dustin Brown clone. Dunno if he'll bring all the offense LA may be hoping for versus what Jeff Carter could've brought.
And no, Waldorf...I'm not hating on your Kings. So, don't get e-angry or e-incredulous.

Darren Dreger was reporting the Leafs were in on the Richards deal as well. Flyers wanted Kadri and Kulemin and while Toronto was busy thinking about it LA came in with that offer and it was game over.
Three Wheelin'
As a long-time Flyers fan I'm still trying to process these trades. No problem with the Bryz signing although I think we paid too much. It should solve the goalie problem all-too obvious last year. Losing Carter and Richards won't help initially unless the other players can pick up the goals/assists lost but long-term may pay off big dividends. Both had worn out their welcomes in Philly by clashing with media and management. I also had bad feelings about the Eagles trading McNabb last year but that worked out well. Bottom line is only time will tell.
That's the first I've heard that the NHL owns the name, everything I read that talked about just kept saying crap like, there's a legal hurdle to use the name again.

I think your team will be okay.
The leadership department is definitely going to be different now with both Carter and Richards gone. I'm guessing Kimmo and Pronger will be the ones to be named in replacement of the traded...?
