Hey, I thought they were a nice team.

They had a great 3rd line...and their top 2 lines were quite well-rounded.

The back checking of this team is ubeleiveable. the defence doesn't even have to stop the rush because a center or winger is pot checking the rush before the even get close to the D. that's how they eliminate all the chances.

not only that but when a D man stepped up there was always a forward who back checked and cycled behind him to take his place.

Their checking game was absolutely devastating - the Wings forecheck killed Pittsburgh.

As for ever, I would not pass this team over the 80s Islanders or Oilers. Sure, different era. But, no way was this Red Wing team that overwhelmingly powerful.
I don't think the Ducks were that polished. They literally dumped the puck in and grinded out every win enroute to the Stanley Cup.

You bring up an interesting point...it'd be interesting to see the currrent Wings vs. a team like the Oilers of the 80's. The Wings probably still woulld have had a decent chance against that team.

Everyone....give Yumchah a break with his hate on for Detroit I understand how he feels as these Wings probably beat up on the Hawks 24 times in the past 3 years.

its funny how Chicago handed Detroit like 5 or 6 losses in their 8 game regular season match-ups...they just could not play against that team for some reason.

The Hawks gave the Dumb Things fits each time they played last season. Like I said earlier, the way to beat the Wings (and I suppose easier said than done) was to send in forwards to check the "mobile" Wings D...which was mobile...but, mostly soft. Rafalski? Hit him...he'll cower. Lebda...same thing.

Then, the forwards...well, as I also said...go after Dats-sucks lots. He's also soft. Voila...Red Wings lose.

Pens are a really nice team. But, if you reflect on the entire series, I could never get my head around how they always seemed to try for that home-run pass and all Detroit would do is sit back with 3 players and wait for the poor LONE Pen going into the zone.

Sorry...not impressed with Red Wings. And oh, at whoever changed my avatar. It's fixed now. Thanks.

The one thing that makes Hockey like no other sport is the handshake at the end between the players. Fans should think twice...and do the same.

Its amazing how everything that happens over the course of a series can be forgotten in the simple handshake. Most of the time anyway.

^ Sure. I told you already: If your grandmother was on a wheelchair and she wore a Red Wings jersey, I'd probably throw a brick at her.

I wonder if I would burn an Aston Martin with a Red Wings logo painted on? Yeah. I would.

it's because while hockey is a highly physical sport 99% of players are true gentlemen and sportsmen.

So apparently HNIC will have a new theme song next year. The CBC let the license expire. I heard the owner of the song on the radio at lunch and he thinks or hopes that the public will force CBC's hand to pay for the rights. While the song is IMO an institution, I hope this guy doesn't think he can hold it for ransom and get any price he wants. Sounds greedy and his plan may backfire.

Wow, that would be weird. I've been hearing that song regularly since I started dating my wife back in 1996.

Actually, I like Vs. hockey theme song. It's "Welcome Home" from Coheed and Cambria. It always gets me fired up to watch a game.

I don't think the CBC realizes the institution that HNIC is, first they try to can Cherry, then Ron, and now the song? what the hell are they doing? the new song better not be nickelback.
