IMO, Turco's game is not well suited against the way the Wings play. Turco is very good against dump and chase teams (i.e. Ducks & Sharks).
puck possession teams>aggressive goalie

Interesting. Interesting.
I've got a hard on just thinking about the inevitable Pens-Wings final. While there is no way the Pens will lose a game, it will still be fun to watch.

We're all watching the best team since the Oilers of the 80s. They just need to keep all of their players in the fold (including Hossa) and they will be the odds-on Cup favorites every year for the next 6-8 years. And if Crosby ever becomes as good as everyone said he was going to be (i.e. if he becomes as good as Malkin), it won't even be close between the Pens and whoever the next best team is.

as for the fin-usa game... are you really surprised that calls go against USA? that's how it is in the rest of the world. and i wish they would have let brown go at selanne, i hate selanne, maybe he will go away and retire after the fins lose.
anyway, who cares about the worlds or olympics? everyone knows its all about the cup.

Can someone explain to me why announcers and most fans think NHL Instant Replay is like the NFL and that there has to be " objective evidence " to "Overturn" the call? They are there to make the correct call not based on what the original call on the ice was. Hearing the guys on Vs. just annoyed me.

Jonesi - where was that taken from? a rink camera or bystander?

Interesting. Interesting.
Jonesi's starting to get greedy.
His team has gone from being embarrassingly horrible to one of the best, if not the best ever and he's upset that they aren't winning games by a wider margin.

NHL:
39.1 General Duties – The following are the general duties of the Video
Goal Judge:
(i) He will review replays of disputed goals when requested to do so by
the Referees.
(ii) He will review replays of disputed goals when he observes an
incident that was undetected by on-ice officials.
(iii) After viewing the incident he will promptly convey his decision directly
to the Referee at the penalty bench. When a play has been referred
to the Video Goal Judge, his decision shall be final.
(iv) During the review he may consult with a member of the League’s
Hockey Operations or Officiating department staff if latter is in
attendance at the game (or via telephone).
NFL:
The referee has 60 seconds to watch the instant replay of the play and decide if the original call was correct. The referee must see "indisputable visual evidence" for a call to be overturned. If the challenge fails, the original ruling stands and the challenging team is charged with a timeout. If the challenge overrules the previous call, the call is reversed with no loss of a timeout.

I should've put a disclaimer up there. I agree there's no way they could've called it a goal b/c the glove blocked the view.

Sharks fire coach Ron Wilson
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP)—The San Jose Sharks fired coach Ron Wilson on Monday after his club followed another outstanding regular season with yet another early exit from the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Sharks won the Pacific Division title and compiled the NHL’s second-best record with 49 wins and 108 points, but the Dallas Stars knocked them out of the second round in six games on May 4. San Jose has ended its past three seasons with six-game losses in the second round, and general manager Doug Wilson decided his coach would take the fall for his talented playoff underachievers.
“Ron helped foster a new era in San Jose Sharks hockey with some record-setting, regular-season performances,” said Doug Wilson, who got his job five months after the club hired Ron Wilson in December 2002.
“However, ultimately we have decided that it is time for a different voice and a different approach to lead this team,” Doug Wilson added. “We are proud of what we’ve accomplished as an organization, but we feel that this team is capable of achieving greater success.”

Now, who is actually a good coach that is/will be available?
