It definitely was eye opening watching the B's later in the season and into the playoffs without Bergy. Definitely will be a different look/team next year... Now the question, do they give Toucan Sam Marchand the C or give it to Pasta?

Idk how you pass over Marchy. Hes been there for over a decade and has worn the A forever. Sleeper pick is Chucky McAvoy

I don't see how agitators can succeed as captains since their antics would then not work well with refs anyways; captains often are communicating with the zebras...

Charlie Coyle would not be a bad choice if McAvoy is not the captain.

I think Karlsson still brings alot to the table and with the right line-up...
BUT...that's one old Pens line-up. Big trio are 36 or older. And then, you have Jeff Carter who is nearly 40? And Reilly Smith who is no spring chicken either.

Yep, my biggest gripe with Hex was that we needed to get younger and he brought in a bunch of over 30 bums and made us older at the deadline. KD has done a good job getting us "younger" in some aspects, but adding another 30+ year old D-Man is questionable. However he is a "superstar" defenseman so I'm curious to see what he brings to our team. I've watched him his whole career in Ottawa and saw him plenty in the playoffs. He's definitely a good offensive D-man, but the age of those other stars and the rest of this team is definitely my biggest issue. When they won back to back in 16/17 it was because they brought up youth from WBS to supplement our older players and it helped propel them to the fastest team in the league. Now with a bunch of 30+ players we certainly are lacking that youth energy and speed

Still, the age is a factor and Pens need to get younger soon.

That is more than 50% more than at the old arena for worse seats.
Unless I find something reasonable, I'll not be going AGAIN.

Krejci retires, damn the B's really are going to look a lot different next year, crazy to see these staples that I've watched for so many years all retiring

The top dogs of this era are Denver, Tampa...with the Canes, Rangers, Vegas part of the convo too I think. I want to say Oilers but I never have faith in that team's make-up.

the Oil are not part of any list. They should be at the top but management is so bad it has all been wasted.

I'm not crying, you are crying.
Toews will likely be my favorite Blackhawks player -- yes, this is over the greats like Savvy, Chelios, Roenick, Kane, Keith...
Anyways, it's definitely bittersweet seeing this new iteration of the Hawks. It's likely going to be softened by Bedard's arrival but still, not the same.

Toews was not the most talented player but his drive and competitiveness for a BRIEF time put him in the same stratosphere as Sid...Without him as captain, Hawks aren't winning those 3 Cups. His willingness to be put in any role including shutdown center against the other squad's top line was also just inspiring to watch.
Yeah, how can you not get romantic about sports sometimes?

Babcock is in some hot water because he is an idiot: https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/mike-babcock-...meet-1.2007869

Still can't believe he was (never understood this) considered one of the best coaches ever. With that team, he only won ONE Cup? Always thought he was overrated.
