It's a long season. I'd be pleased with Dallas' start.

I am pleased. But they lost 2 to the Leaves and to the Panthers and Avalanche.. all lower ranked teams.
Seems like unlike previous seasons, they don't give up in the 3rd, they keep up the intensity, hence a lot of come from behind wins. Maybe they just give up too early when they play bad teams and it bites them in the ass.
At least we aren't the Oilers or Flames or Leaves

Avs somehow got a win last night. Probably cause it was against the Flyers. Regardless it feels good to get a win with how bad this season has been.

Look at Kings...started out 0-3 and have been playing pretty well since. Alot can happen during the course of the season...enjoy the roller-coaster ride.

Yeah pretty much exactly. We chose to just not blow as much last night.

I think the avs main problem is their coach. A hockey legend/local legend who came up with one very progressive idea (pulling the goalie very early) and had some luck based success in his first year. In reality he's a caveman living in the world of smartphones. Due to his success as a player, no one will get him understand he's living in the past.

I agree. At the same time I really did want the Sakic/Roy pairing to succeed at turning the team around.

I wonder who ended up with it. And you wonder how long before the NHL bans throwing sticks into the stands. These scenes are becoming way too common.

sounds like someone's team has been losing for a long time...

Still, it gives teams and franchises (like yours) hope in this format I guess. This is what Bettman and his buddies wanted.

Bigger nets or smaller equipment on goalies, that's the only solution. Back in the day you could look at a team photo and figure out who the goalie was, now that's not the case. They are as athletic as the goalies of the past they just have about 25% more body mass to cover more net and their equipment is huge.

meh... the oilers have been nothing short of garbage- and I mean bottle of the barrel garbage- for the last 10 years straight. It's still fun to watch a good game (when they have one) even if they lose. It's entertainment. If it sucks, I turn off the TV. If it's good, I watch. I'd never lose sleep over it though.
I've never understood how some people can get so obsessed with a team. Besides having, potentially, your city name on their chests, there's nothing else a person has in common with them. 99% of the players likely aren't even from that city anyway. They don't care about you, or anyone in the stands, for that matter. As long as the seat was paid for, what does the team care?

Not all of them obviously, but hockey seems to have players who are much more grounded in big picture reality than other sports. Not all of them live in their superstar athlete bubble.

I would bet that if every starting goalie had a surprise measurement and pad inspection we'd find 100% of goalies still using oversized equipment.
