Wow, after a fast start, the Pens are clinging to this game by the skin of their teeth. This "D" that Pens fans are defending...? Well, I dunno if giving up this many chances and shots is what the rest of the world conventionally calls "D".

I hear the Pens are having some goaltending issues in the playoffs? This is a shocking turn of events they no one saw coming. I'm sure the Pens and their fans are equally as surprised that MAF may not be the right man for the job.

The fact that they have 2 solid stay at home D sitting in the pressbox shows the Pens defensive concept is the problem. I'd understand feeling the need to play Letang if the team had issues with scoring up front but that's not the case is it. The defensive concept of the pens seems to be, "score more goals than they do" and it's not a real solid plan.
crosby no goals last 9 playoff games, malkin no goals last 8...don't think it's entirely the D fault. martin has 8 points in 4 games. everyone got caught watching the puck behind the net, 58/87 had their back to the slot on that GTG, that's just terrible hockey instincts. and wtf is fleury doing playing a puck with 30 seconds left? stay in the damn crease.

Um...in the playoffs, the top lines typically wipe each other out. It is the DEPTH that wins the Cup. Key goals scored by the muckers/grinders...but, I digress. Let's go with the Malkin/Sid argument for a moment then...
So, let me understand: The Pens were spotted a great THREE goal lead and blew it by letting the Jackets fire 46 shots at the net...and it's Malkin and Sid's fault? Who knew they played on the blueline?

Yes, secondary scoring HELPS win series, but the Pens are so stacked up top, that it's expected that those guys contribute more than a couple assists. Going 0-6 on the power play for example, that lies on those 2 mainly. They put so much into their top 2 lines, that the lack of scoring is hurting them. Yes they had a 3 goal lead, but if Sid and or Malkin were contributing, they could have easily ran away with the game or extended that lead, instead they tried to protect the lead and let CBus hang around.
